As skilled designers, builders, and horticulturists, we provide landscape architecture, construction and horticultural maintenance to the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California. We offer a wide range of services, from basic consultation and guidance on small improvement projects to larger scale design and construction.
I spent a wonderful three hours with you, learning to see my garden through the eyes of a landscape designer. I felt that suddenly, I could see so many new possibilities. Four Dimensions serves the Bay Area and Northern California with inspired, award-winning landscape design and construction. Our projects range in scale from small, simple garden remodels through mid-level home garden renovations to fully detailed larger designs. Each place on Earth is unique. Each person and family is unique, like the places they inhabit.
We wish to thank you and your staff for the wonderful design and exceptional implementation of our California native garden. Your installation crew was courteous, knowledgeable and proactive. The hummingbirds and bees have already visited the new plants. My husband and I are outside several times a day, walking along the path, enjoying the gurgling sounds of the new fountain.
We provide custom maintenance packages for all size gardens to fit your needs and budget. A free assessment with our knowledgeable and courteous staff can help prioritize and pace the work that is needed in your garden, so you can see gradual improvements in a reasonable time frame. We can tend your garden on a weekly or bi-monthly basis, or visit for special seasonal work quarterly, half yearly or as needed through the calendar year. Aside from regular or seasonal maintenance, we provide a wide array of horticulture services to meet your needs.

I couldn't be happier with the results from the Four Dimensions team! My transformed garden far exceeded my expectations. After meeting with several landscapers, Michael stood out due to his sensitivity to the property -- the yard was overgrown and had been neglected for many years while the patio area was worn and outdated. It was important to me to keep a few treasured items (mature trees and a beloved hand-built playhouse) that existed on the property. Michael listened to and understood what I was envisioning and developed a thoughtful design. Chris, the project manager, implemented the construction and planting phase.
He was a true professional. As I wasn't able to visit the site often, his daily written updates and photos made it easy to communicate and view the progress being made. The landscape team was friendly and amazingly efficient (even in the unrelenting rain). Four Dimensions was able to deliver an absolutely beautiful backyard on time and within my budget. I highly recommend them.

Four Dimensions transformed my boring, weedy, lawn-covered lot into a lovely mostly natives garden with water features, seating areas and even a mini-orchard. Michael has a wonderful garden sensibility and plant expertise, and he and his staff know how to make your ideas and desires a reality. There are lots of landscapers out there but few with the talent and expertise that this company has.

It is so worthwhile to hire a professional! I love the California native plants, and wanted a garden that would support butterflies, native bees, and have four-season interest. My yard was a real challenge: a long, narrow rectangle covered with old, cracked, stained concrete, virgin clay underneath, and some real head-whacking spots where steps up put me just under the drainspout.
One side in the shade, and the other side in the blazing sun. After five years of thinking, I engaged Michael Thilgen and Four Dimensions Landscaping. Michael is an expert on the native plants; even more important, he listened carefully to my needs and wants, and worked with me to come up with a design that was beautiful, practical, and introduced the curves I like to this rectangular space.
The team were respectful, hard working, always cleaned up, and helped with suggestions when new challenges appeared from underneath the concrete. Would I do it again? I would hire them in a minute! If you look for the Bringing Back the Natives tour (each year in early May), you can see gardens that were designed by Four Dimensions.

We had a huge weedy backyard lot beautifully designed to attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds by Four Dimensions. With a natural stone bench and an incredible sculpture find turned into a waterfall, everyday the garden is such a peaceful oasis. Each year the garden grows increasingly gorgeous and natural. We loved that Four Dimensions reused what was left in our previous neglected garden, built a little hill, a patch of a lavender field.
We love it so much. We also use their garden maintence service which is most likely why the garden is such a natural park like setting. If there is an issue with the irrigation or leaky water, they come right away. The garden crew is just so knowledgeable. If I sound effusive, after more than 8 years, the garden is still such a jewel and a peaceful retreat.

They transform our plain yard into a native plant paradise. People are blown away when they see it. Professional, courteous, easy to communicate with, experts in the field.can't recommend them enough feel free to email me if you want pictures of our yard. If you are interested in native plants or any kind of creek restoration this is definitely the company to work with.
