Great Lakes Landscaping

I sent in a request for an estimate and someone emailed me right away. It being Friday they said someone would be out the following week for the estimate. Towards the close of the next week I emailed for an update on the estimate just to be ignored. I sent another email a week after that and still no response. I get it if you're too busy to do the work but please don't lie to me and waste my time. Really unprofessional.

I can not say enough good things about this company! They are exceptional! From the design services (Laura) to the installation. I did not want to write this review right away, because I wanted to see how the plantings and design would turn out over time. Well, it's been approximately two years and everything they have planted is thriving and looks better than I expected.

We had shopped around for a landscaping company and this company by far was the most reasonable and responsive. I was a little nervous, because they always say, you get what you paid for, but not here. Great prices and great service! Thank you!

I live in a complex that utilizes their service. I understand it is not an easy complex to cut. but the job the do (not well) is horrible! Not sure if your blades need to be sharpened or what?! They just zip through, grass is shot onto the patios. (there was a slight improvement this season. re the grass on patios). But over all. horrible job.

Polo and Mike listen carefully to any concerns that we have. They are super friendly and do the best job ever. Our lawn never looked so good. Thank you all!

We recently undertook a massive four tier wall residential renovation of our back yard on a very steep hill. The access to the actual building site was amazingly limited and presented its own unique technical challenges on top of the topography of the hill. After consulting with numerous companies in Michigan's Thumb area, we went with Great Lakes Landscaping.

Their bidding was very competitive and their choice of materials afforded us exactly what we wanted. Mike, their designer, worked with us tirelessly to help determine what would be the best for the design and our needs. Jeff and his crew brought a level of expertise, skill and professionalism to the job from sunrise till evening all fall long. The skill and talent that I saw daily was unreal.

Even our dogs loved Jeff and the entire crew. Work in challenging spaces and the ability to overcome unexpected hurdles to produce a beautiful work of art with precise attention to meticulous details is why I would highly recommend Great Lakes Landscaping to everyone. We had Mike Simonsen and Great Lakes come out 2 years ago to dismantle a backyard deck and install a stone patio with landscaping. We were so pleased that we had them out again to freshen up the landscaping in the front of our house. The end result was as expected and we couldn't be happier about the way it turned out. From design to installation, Mike and the Great Lakes crew are professional and so easy to work with! Highly recommended by a returning client!

I was looking to get a new paver brick patio with a pergola and firepit area. After receiving bids from 3 companies, I chose Great Lakes Landscaping because Mike, the designer and consultant, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very enthusiastic. He designed a beautiful patio that I couldn't be more pleased with. He was very easy to work with through the entire process. Jeff, the foreman, and his team were great and efficient. They had the whole project done in one week and were very professional and friendly. I would definitely recommend this company for any landscaping projects.

Let me preface my review by saying I'm not an individual to hire out work around my house. I normally do the work myself. However, we needed front landscaping done for our home, and I contacted a number of companies to do the job. We ended up going with Great Lakes Landscaping, because they were very responsive to our needs and changes to our needs.

We had a good idea on the layout of the landscaping we wanted done. Great Lakes were very great at listening to what we wanted. The crew (wish I had the foreman's name) installed the landscaping yesterday. 28 plants/trees, 12 yards of mulch installed in all our landscaping beds. These guys were amazing. The job was done in one day and looks great.

We didn't go with a retaining wall or anything. Just a pretty simple and clean design. The crew moved sprinkler lines, took great care in forming the landscaping bed, getting the plants in and providing some suggestions on placement. It was a great experience. I would give this crew 10 stars if Google would let me. I highly recommend contacting Great Lakes Landscaping for your project. I'm glad I did, and my back is, too. Thanks GLL Team!

Great Lakes Landscape After 3 quotes and one that never answered. We were very lucky to find Great Lakes landscaping to do our extensive Two tear boulder wall on a hill. We had the best team: Dennis and Michael lead by Don. Best ideas great work and we had all our wishes fulfilled. Only two words: PERFECT JOB. When we moved into our house it was in serious need of new landscaping as the previous owners let it go pretty badly. We heard about this company and reached out and they turned what would've been a daunting task into a total breeze. We let Mike Simonsen take the reins on the design to do what he thought would look best and he absolutely knocked it out of the park.

We thought there was no way it could look as good in real life as it did on screen but when Jeff and his team started working we were blown away. There's not a harder working crew out there. We easily have the best looking house on our street now and I think just about everyone on the block has come by to comment on it at some point. Can't recommend them enough.

WAIST HIGH GRASS! Even when it is that high, they show ZERO interest in coming out. COMPLETE SCAM. They got into a contract with our association, and never showed to cut certain areas. You call them, and they say, "our machines can't cut wet grass". "we only cut yours on thursdays". "your board must have told us not to cut it, otherwise we would cut it". "we will be there today" Over 5 weeks of chasing, and still TODAY, I am staring at grass that measures 42 inches tall.

I drive around a lot, and I've not seen anything like it. In all our years here, no vendor has been this terrible, this lazy, and this poor in customer service. Before calling them, ask yourself, if in June, you've seen a condo association with half million dollar homes having over 40 inch tall grass, that is completely dry. LIARS, CHEATERS, FRAUDS.

At first these guys were great. We hired them to do grass, sprinklers, and a patio. There was an issue with a plant and an area of the grass that has been ongoing for the last year. The plant is "on the next truck going to our sub" and the grass they keep blaming the sprinkler company that they contracted out. We've been told the same thing for the last year about how they'll replace the plant when the truck comes out next.

They told us everything we wanted to hear when we hired them, but now they are not returning our calls and not standing by their warranty that they boasted about a year ago. This would have been a 5 star review if they would just replace the plant and fix the sod issue. Too bad.

Our backyard is now an extension of our home. Mike designed a beautiful 'retreat' for us. It was a bit rough due to weather and therefore didn't get done until late fall but a few football games were watched out there before the weather turned. We are very excited for spring and look forward to spending many days/nights out there. Mike and all the guys were a pleasure to work with. Jeff is truly an artist and did all of the beautiful stone work. He and his crew were a delight to work with. Would totally call these people for any other needed artistic work. Thank you all!
