We create custom lumber used for a variety of applications including bar tops, tables, counters, mantels, and much more. We carry a variety of wood that is locally sourced and can offer both wholesale and finished products. As a professional tree service our tree experts can remove unwanted or problematic trees and our sawyers can mill on location with our portable sawmill or here on our larger stationary mill.

In addition to tree removal, we also provide professional pruning and planting. We can update and redesign an old landscape or design a new landscape installation for you, including hardscaping such as patios and steps.

Capital Sawmill can take down your unwanted trees, prune for more light and healthier trees, mill take downs into lumber on site and install landscaping we design for the newly created areas. Owner, arborist Steven Daniels has been providing tree service for over 30 years. In 1995 he added a portable sawmill to the company to better utilize the trees removed.
Steven created wooden displays to show the crystal jewelry that now fill our show cases. This wooden geode, actually a burl, is my favorite of them, featuring Kyanite earrings and necklace by Annick Designs. It seems whatever I show in this display is purchased right away! Unique Gifts and Custom Creations by Local Artists.
We can mill trees at your site or ours with our portable band sawmill. We can take down your trees and mill them or mill trees that have already been felled. For rates (locally, distant or out-of-state) please give us a call. Although we don't stock dimensional lumber, we can custom cut logs into planks of many widths and lengths, suited to fit your project.
We start with carefully selected Walnut logs from upstate New York. Lumber is stored under cover as it slowly air dry for up to two years. Besides starting out with good quality logs proper drying is the most important step in quality control. Walnut is a beautiful, strong and versatile wood. It comes from a moderate size tree which grows to be about 100 feet tall, with a trunk that can be up to 60 in diameter.

I went here to purchase a 2 inch thick maple slab for a workbench top I am building. The owners are a small local business. Friendly, knowledgeable, and had what I wanted at a good price.

You couldn't ask for a better company to complete your tree removal and landscaping needs! Capital Sawmill removed a huge walnut tree and a 60 foot pine, ground the stumps, and trimmed several pine and deciduous trees on my property. The crew was courteous and cleaned up each day leaving no debris behind. They cleared a patchy area of my lawn, delivered mounds of dirt, planted 4 mature Spruce trees and transplanted a rhododendron to the newly landscaped area. The work was professional and the results look fabulous!

Good selections of slabs. Make sure to call before you go though. I made the half hour trip to find no one around.

Capital Sawmill has done tree work for us at 3 different times. We needed tree and stump removal and extensive trimming on very old, large maples. Steve and his crew did a terrific job for us. The entire team was very pleasant, the price was fair and the crew cleaned the area of all brush. I would recommend Capital Sawmill very highly.
