Services
Designscape Horticultural Services has always been about QUALITY. Serving home and business owners in Bloomington, Brown County, Columbus and adjoining communities, Designscape is a full-service landscape-contracting company that offers a complete turnkey landscape management program. A harmonious garden begins with a firm foundation.
The foundation to any new landscape or garden renovation begins with a Professional Design Process. Laying the framework by providing Plan-View and Perspective Drawings are important for client awareness and sound mind. The advice and recommendations from experienced designers are then melded with the client's ideas and expectations into a Master Plan, where all main design elements are revealed.
Designscape's Plant Health Care division was grown out of our arboriculture services and now provides a wide scope of services. From helping to rescue sick/stressed trees to working proactively on the front end with scheduled plant management. Designscape's two internationally certified arborists perform localized tree injections for pesky pests such as EAB (emerald ash borer), and other bad bugs that feed on our trees.
As a company Designscape strives to design every landscape with drought tolerance and low maintenance as key components to the garden's master plan. Many plants can thrive for years in the perfect climate without any watering or maintenance but that "perfect spot" is generally reserved by nature, outside of the urban landscape.

Customer service was unmatched! They hit the ball out of the park in terms of design. You'd be crazy not to at least stop by. Check out the talent and perfected craft Designscape has to offer at reasonably affordable price.

We have been customers with Designscape for servicing our sprinkler system since 2009. In the past two years service has been less than optimal. This summer I called in mid-June to check on sprinkler startup. Note, this usually gets scheduled earlier in the spring so I was curious why we had not heard from them. I informed them that we were leaving to go out of town for 5 weeks and that I wanted to be sure sprinkler was working.

We arrived home after our trip to find the sprinkler system not turned on and our lawn dead. When I called to inquire I was not offered any explanation or apology. I was told we'd be getting a phone call to schedule on Monday. When I had not received any contact by 11am, I called another company who is arriving at 9am tomorrow to do the work. I circled back to Designscape to let them know we were no longer in need of services and were disappointed. Response was "ok, we'll take you off the list, thanks." Wow. Talk about terrible customer service!

I have worked at Designscape for a little over a year now as part of the install team and I have never felt more welcome and accepted as an employee. They truly do go above and beyond in my opinion to take care of their employees. Each day is something new and I learn each day as well. I am very happy to be apart of the team.

This used to be an honest, solid local business. It used to be run with integrity and the owner used to be amazing. Unfortunately, ownership has passed to another generation, and the company culture has changed. Flat out dishonesty has become the norm. Empty promises are made and ignored when they are not followed through with. It's no coincidence that almost everyone who worked there previously has fled the company.

They lost over 120 years of solid professional experience, yet have not reduced their rates. You used to receive a valuable service from this company, but that is sadly no longer the case. The "Good Ole Boy" system is alive and well here. If you're buddies with the new, hip owner, you can set a truck on fire on the most important property and still keep your job!

You can get a job in management with zero horticultural experience! But if you're a lowly employee and fulfill the stated requirements to obtain a raise. you won't get one. That's a big reason why most of the employees left. I will not tolerate dishonest behavior. And dishonesty is the new normal for this company. It's sad, and I am extremely disappointed as this business claims to be faith based. Were we to discuss the state of this company with our Lord, He would be appalled. My only hope is that the original owner steps back in and takes the reins, as this company is on a crash course for the local dump.

It was a pleasure working here during the summers between college years. Good and friendly staff, great at the work they do, and hard not to miss them.

I bought a 2016 SCAG Tiger Cat II. When I first called around Joe was willing to work with me vs some of the guys (not all) were either rude or trying to sell you other products of lesser quality. These guys are excellent. I would buy from them again.
