We have been growing cold hardy palms from seed for almost 40 years and have shipped them to other nurseries and garden centers all over eastern NC, SC and Va. Gary is past president and past NC director of The Southeastern (US) Palm Society. He has given palm presentations to the JC Raulston Aboretum, Master Gardner State Conference, NC Asssociation of Nurserymen, Tryon Palace, Master Gardener groups and many garden clubs all over NC. His articles and photos on palms have been shared here and abroad for many years.

Please call 252-637-6858 and allow us the privilege of assisting you with your Landscape Design & Installation. Free first consultation. We will work from your landscape plan or we will design for you. We have a NC Licensed Landscape Contractor on staff to assure you of a well planned and installed job.
To obtain wholesale prices you must be in the nursery/landscape trade and have a state sales tax number and exemption form from your state on file with us to avoid paying NC state sales tax. Even though these palms are very cold hardy when mature, they can be very tender and subject to injury or death from freezing temperatures at a young age during their first year planted out from nursery grown containers.
We can have print done locally for you or have them printed by Mpix with just a few days turnaround time. No name appears on purchsed prints. Many of my photos have been used in books, wall art at hotels, etc. and can be licensed for such purposes. This is a photo processed to look like a painting and they look awesome printed and framed.
One of the most cold hardy pinnate palms. Fairly fast growing. By late summer 1996 it had completely recovered. It is borderline hardy in the New Bern area. The Butia needs to be planted in a protected area, out of the north wind. Plant on the south side of buildings in well drained soil. Cold damage usually starts around 12 degrees but can recover from single digits and lower depending on duration. One of the most cold hardy trunked palms. Grows very well in zone 8 and some areas of zone 7. The best tall trunked palm for inland areas.

Very helpful when I asked how to plant a hedge of limelights in fall of 2021. They are close to 4 ft. tall and full of blooms now.

Great looking palms and other plants also. I give it 5 stars. The people who run the nursery are very friendly and helpful.

Gary grows Sabal palmettos and other Sabals from seed for planting in the landscape. Few others do this. It's a slow way to get a full-grown palm tree, but a great way to get a hardier palm. He also visited and documented the northernmost Sabal minors growing on an uninhabited island in the Currituck Sound. If you live in the Southeast U.S. and love palms you definitely should visit.

Gary is the undisputed King of palms in the state of North Carolina. His prices are very reasonable & his selection is about the best you will find in this part of the country. I know all of this because I did hours of research before I finally made my move this morning. Gary has a passion for palms which are native to this state and climate. Listen to him and your warm weather plants will never conceivably freeze to death in the Tar Heel State.
