I have 2 birch clumps in my yard and several years ago, got some "free" mulch from city of Saratoga. That's when our problem started. Within a year or two our trees leaves would turn yellow and brown and fall of the trees starting in early July and all leaves would be off by the end of July. Called Stan Hunt Tree service to treat what was later discovered by Davey Tree Service to be a Couple of fungus infections The Hunt team tried for several years to get a handle on the problem and never really could. Called Davey tree service and had a Bryant Merkley show up. he took several samples, sent them of to their lab, found the cause of problem instead of just guessing. Davey sent up their people to treat the trees and now in mid July, not 1 leaf has left the trees, and by now, the trees would be just about leafless Draw your own conclusion.
