WCA is a team of experienced professionals with diverse backgrounds in landscape design, architecture, planning, and all phases of design and implementation. We believe that design is a team process that includes the client and users as critical members of the team.
Walter Cudnohufsky Associates, Inc., in collaboration with Kraus-Fitch Architects, were first place winners in "Sustainable, Equitable, SMART: An Ideas Competition for the Pioneer Valley" sponsored by the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission in 2010. In awarding the prize, judges commended the design for realigning roads for safer circulation, encouraging suitable commercial development, and clustering mixed use buildings.
Since 1992, Walter Cudnohufsky Associates, Inc. has built a reputation for uncommon excellence in planning and design, through projects ranging from residential site design to community-wide visioning and master planning. We embrace the parallel challenges of design research, publication production and graphic design as these fields relate to design and planning work. The projects featured here are representative of the diverse nature of our work.
WCA has collaborated with South Mountain Company and Island Housing Trust for projects on Martha's Vineyard, bringing site planning expertise to housing projects whose goal is to protect the land and establish an environment conducive to building community. Here is one example. At Eliakim's Way, eight homes were aligned for solar gain and clustered around a central common.
