Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Value Their loam and compost contains plastic and glass. The people that work there are completely unprofessional and treat you like you owe them something. Their pricing is also high when compared to other places. The owners wife likes to vent her problems to everyone like anyone cares or wants to hear it.

The value of this company is awful, please do your self a favor find some other company. Hired them to plow the snow in my driveway, and upon doing so, blocked the walkway to enter my own house. The grass cutting was absolutely awful, some areas were untouched some areas were higher than others. The only competence this company has is the promptness in billing you. Really bad experience, do not recommend for anybody.

They took my money ($$$$$), did some work and disappeared. I heard, We'll be there Monday many, many times. I took time off from work many times. They never showed. The first and only time they planted bushes in the wrong. places. They don't know the difference between a rose bush and and a dandelion. It will cost me hundreds to undo the damage.

GFX did a great job clearing out my bush garden. I had done nothing for 2 years and it was a mess. They knew the difference between a weed and a plant. The last guy I had ripped out my fern, solomon seal, hosta, and other plants that I had spent years cultivating. GFX knew what plants I had lost and installed the right plants. They have a good "eye" and the changes they made improved the whole look of the garden. Fast, efficient, and, again, a good "eye". Ask for Luke. A little pricey, but worth it.

I use to work here and got terminated because my sister in law was positive for covid19. They demanded I show them my "sister" in laws medical records. Sorry can't do that shes in the hospital. My wife decided to call them being a concerned mother to explain that its not legal to ask for someone elses medical records and the owner flipped out and hung up the phone. Moments later I recieved a text saying I was terminated.

These people are rude and inconsiderate. The day after I told them there was positive results in the family they had my crew that I was in direct contact with working not knowing if I was positive or negative. Great management. They advertise work that I did when I dont work there anymore. So think again when you think of ground effects landscaping

I have purchased from them on a number of occasions without complaint, but Thursday I ordered a delivery of stone dust. The lady apologized saying because of driver shortage it would not get delivered until Friday. I happily agreed to that. Friday came and went without the delivery. At 4:00pm I called and left a message inquiring when I should expect it.

She called back, again apologized and told me I would be the first delivery on Saturday morning. Imagine my surprise when the neighbor across the street got his delivery before me. I stopped by the office and advised the owner that it would be better customer relations to not make it look like they lied to me. He said both trucks got loaded and left the lot at the same time and wasn't sure why mine arrived second.

When I pointed out that both deliveries were brought by the same truck and driver and therefore proving he was again lying to my face he belligerently said "well we got it to you by nine you should be happy " which was also a lie as it arrived after nine. When I pointed out that three successive lies would have me considering other options for future purchases, he said " do what you gotta do" and shooed me away.

Super unprofessional. Not interested in understanding the customers vision for the projects. We had them out to speak with the about multiple jobs on our properties. The representatives looked agitated when we questioned some of the ideas they proposed. The bids they sent were thousands over others. Zero follow up after we had questions about bids. Very unpleasant experience from start to finish.

I'd like to preface my review by saying that I typically don't write reviews. However, I use yelp so much in order to get an idea of people's experiences related to services provided. Cliff note version of our experience- if you want to sift through mulch/dirt to find your wood (please see photos to understand), if you want to use an ax to split wood to smaller pieces that will burn and if you enjoy dealing with deplorable customer service--then this is your company.

On Thursday, I called and ordered a cord of seasoned wood. Friday the wood was delivered. Upon delivery, I thanked the truck driver (as that is the way I was brought up). Immediately, I began stacking the wood. The wood was wet (the wood is boiling in a fire that I have going now), covered in dirt and mulch and there was at least one scoop (a bucket scoop) of dirt, mulch, leaves and scraps of wood and bark.

I literally needed a shovel to sift though and see if there was more wood underneath all of the debris. I took photos and called the office. The woman who answered the phone said was horrified herself and said she'd forward the photos to the owner, Shawn. I received a phone call from Shawn and explained how disappointed I was with the wood and especially the mount of debris that came with it for it accounted for 1/6 of my cord.

After a very unpleasant and disturbing phone call with the owner (who I hung up for he was screaming at me saying there was nothing wrong with his product, the wood wasn't soaked in a bathtub, that debris is normal.so much for taking a customers feedback into consideration), I called back to give him the opportunity to make the situation right.

He said he's send a crew to remove the pile of debris on Saturday morning and bring enough wood to compensate me for the amount of debris delivered. Needless to say, they never showed up, never called. I filled the back of a trailer yesterday to remove the debris myself. Everyone makes mistakes, nobody is perfect. Take what you want from this post. Hoping your experience is a better one especially if it is an experience where there is an issue with something that needs to be corrected. Thankfully this was a $350 cord of wood and not a big landscape project.

As I type, I'm listening and watching water boiling from wood in my fireplace. Update: On Monday morning a delivery driver came out to drop off wood to make up for the scoop of debris.

The owners are very professional, honest, and very helpful. Even if you do not hire them for your project and want to do it yourself, they will not hesitate to give you advice if you need it. Great local business.

I was a customer with Ground Effects. To be fair, the first few years they did a good job. The lawn looked great and the beds were well landscaped. Last year the deterioration in service and quality started, but everyone has issues at some point, so I was patient. This year, it took weeks to get a return call and the subsequent quote increased significantly. Meantime, my Lawn looks totally neglected. If you are new, you will probably get the royal treatment, but beware, there is no customer love once you get past the honeymoon phase. Shop before you buy.

Walked in on a Saturday 10 minutes before closing looking to see if there was any possibility I could have some gravel delivered that same day, without any hesitation they were willing to help. 30 minutes later the gravel was in my driveway. Never had a bad experience dealing with ground effects. I've purchased gravel and stone on numerous occasions since then and the customer service has been excellent each and every time. Highly recommend this place!

We have been a client of Ground Effects since 2005. Ground Effects has done everything for our front and backyards -- spring and fall cleanup, landscaping, weekly mowing, applying organic fertilizer, aerating, etc. When they were in charge, our lawn and bushes looked fantastic! The work crew are skilled, hard-working, courteous and polite. When I initially lost my job, Peter Bishop sympathetically put us on a payment plan.

Eventually we decided to mow and rake ourselves, given my free time and to save some money. Sadly, our landscape has suffered for it. As soon as we can have professionals care for our lawn again, we will rehire Ground Effects without hesitation. Their prices are more than reasonable and, more importantly, they are dependable. And they are a local family-owned business on the South Shore. I strongly recommend Ground Effects for all your landscaping needs!

My first yelp review ever, just trying to save someone else 15 minutes of their life. Just had a guy come to our house to quote a hardscape rehab for our pool. He was nasty rude and offered me no options. I actually said ok, so you have no ideas and have nothing to offer me? You can't make a recommendation even if it's more money. He said nope nothing.

I said ok well it's been a pleasure. Honestly don't know why the guy was even sent out and don't know why he would be their representative as a salesman. Horrible experience that I'm actually embarrassed for the company and feel gross from the interaction. There are so many great companies out there, don't call them just because they spend the most on their Google search to be the first to show up.
