Regretting hiring them. Initially I paid $300 for the landscape design consult. I kept saying I want simple but neat but during the process of suggestions more and more varieties of plants and flowers got added. Ultimately paid the $300 but told them I just want to continue instead with a privacy hedge with green giants because I did not like the complexity of the design.

For tearing out existing shrubs and plants and replacing with 12 green giants = $6,200. The day comes to plant and they show up with 12 aborviteas rather green giants! (mind you they came down and saw what I already had and the privacy hedge I decided to continue with) During conversations they tried to say it was my fault that it was explained green giants get very large.

I told them that was a lie and never said that because when here we discussed an elaborate different design plan. They said they don't want to eat the cost of the aborvtea already purchased. I wanted the work continued since my yard was dug up so a new contract was drafted for $7,000. They charged me an additional $800 for their mistake. At this point I just want it done. 6 months later 5 of the plants are dead.

The warranty isn't covered because I didn't do a water drip which was noted in the contract but would have been nice customer service to talk through since they installed in November and it would be impossible to do anyway. In May I email them with pictures of 5 plants that died. They come back with an estimate saying for 3 replacements it will be $1,700. #1 I said 5 not 3, #2 how do they justify that price?

I asked to break down the cost because my contract says $24.00 hour for labor for replacement. I couldn't come out to $1,700. And how much is a 6 green giant? Days later no response to my question to break down the cost. Would not hire again. I will get the dead plants replaced from some place else.

We use this team for our lawn mowing service and small side projects. We just had an existing stone wall moved and extended. Communication is great and I will use this team again and again Steve

We had a great experience with Design Works! We contacted at least half a dozen companies for some landscaping/planting we needed for our yard. Design works was the only company to get back to us and take on the project. Much appreciated since I'm sure our project wasn't the most lucrative for them but they never made us feel like it wasn't.

It was a three day project with 2 separate teams (one team for excavating and stone and another for mulch and plantings) Both teams were courteous, respectful, and did a great job! I would highly recommend them and use them again! We love our new landscaping! Thank you!

We recently moved into a new home that had a bare back yard begging for a makeover. Jim from Design Works came out for a 1 hr design consult and helped create a plan for a beautiful backyard and outdoor entertainment space. He brought some great ideas and his expertise helped guide the design. Can't wait until we are able to enjoy the final product with our family and friends!

It's been a year since they installed my patio and plantings. All I can say is that I now have a very expensive garden. The patio is uncomfortable to sit on anywhere. There is no level surface, and while I understand there needs to be a pitch to allow for water runoff, the thing pitches left-to-right, and back-to-front, from one corner to the diagonal opposite. I'll never feel comfortable on my patio. Never.

Had them do a Fall cleanup and they were awesome! Showed up on time, did a great job, and charged as was quoted. Can you ask for more? Price was very fair and booking the service was fast and easy. Highly recommend : Having them do some landscape design and installation in the Spring now. I'll update this review after that higher end service is performed

I cannot say enough great things about this company. I feel very fortunate that I found them. They do it all at a competitive price in a timely To a person, I found them to be professional, knowledgeable and personable. My yard was an overgrown mess. I turned it over to them, as landscape architects, to do their thing and it is beautiful. I was so pleased that I have also hired their company to do maintenance as well (weeding, clean up, installing timers and underground drip hoses). I will be adding mowing in the spring.

We own a construction company, Turn Cycle Solutions and work along side Jim, Jenn and all their craftsmen in the field a couple of times a year. I can tell you with conviction they can produce a landscape design and install every component of the design they propose. We are always excited to hear from them when there is a deck integrated into one of their projects because it means there is going to be a real concrete plan for the final product that is being produced with a well thought out design.

As an installer and an owner its awesome to be able to integrate with them. As a person in the tradesmen myself, I wouldn't work with them if I did not believe in them or their values but they have the full package. I strive to be able to design project at the caliber they do. I highly recommend them for any landscaping transformation. Patios, walkways, plantings, retaining walls, outdoor kitchens, pool decks they've got you!

They did a phenomenal job on our walkway, both in design and in execution. The design was creative and worked with the rest of our house layout (colors, look). The execution was done clean and without any real disruption at the house during the week which was great. In advance, we had done 3 bids at other locals and then chose Design Works. Two keys for us were relatively quick install and overall good communication.

The communication was awesome throughout the entire project and this made for a very comfortable experience. The price was right in line with the others that bid. I also read the other review (at this time) on Yelp in advance. I had my driveway refinished within the last 12 months, the excavator and other equipment used didn't leave any marks at all. This was a complete non issue. We were very happy overall and would/will use Design Works again.

They did a good job designing a solution to make our wretched back yard functional and beautiful. I'm giving them only two stars because the owner did not take responsibility for damage done to my driveway by their careless running back and forth of a fully loaded Bobcat. There have also been several issues with the craftsmanship of the fencing and ants eating their way through the patio. Owner refuses to honor warranty due to dispute over damage to the driveway. I would look elsewhere and avoid the drama of this company. Not worth the premium price.

In 2015, we installed an in-ground gunite pool. We contracted with DesignWorks to do the hardscape, pool deck, low voltage lighting and landscaping. DesignWorks was the only company that came in with a professional drawn and rendered plan. That was a clear distinguisher right from the start. The work was started on scheduled in June and completed on schedule in early July.

The quality of the products they used was first rate from the pavers, wall blocks and fire pit from Techo-Bloc to the plants for the landscaping.

Jim, the owner, worked with me to ensure that all of the design features I wanted were included. The pavers are Techo-Bloc’s Blu 80 product laid out on a 45-degree pattern. We included an inner soldier course of smaller pavers next to the pool coping and a double soldier course on the outside edge of the deck.

All of that combines to make a very professionally finished and nicely flowing appearance. With all that, the capstone for me is the landscaping. Jennifer from DesignWorks did the landscaping design which works to perfection. No matter where you sit or look, there are interesting plant and flower details. As I write this, I’m watching a hummingbird at the Hibiscus tree.

Overall, it was a great project, and DesignWorks was a great team to work with.

We recently used Design Works to create a backyard design plan for us. It was amazing, and so detailed. We then hired them to install the backyard patio and fire pit. It came out beautifully! They were professional, hard working, knowledgeable, and got everything done in the time frame that they said they would. We will certainly use this company again

I’d talked to several other landscape companies. They were all good, but Design Works had another level of knowledge and understanding of what we were looking for. We had a concept photo, and Jim was able to work with us and realize it. The project work was excellent. We were told our 1000 sq ft patio would take a week and a half, and they finished in 7 work days. Jim had provided us with a CAD design showing the size and shape of the patio, as well as some boulders being placed around the edges.

As the project was moving we realized some of the boulders were not in the right place. Adam checked the plan and moved the rocks, no fuss. All the workers were professional and respectful. The machine operator was very good, and willing to move the dirt removed to a different spot on our property where I needed the fill. My wife commented on how nice they seemed and how professional they acted.

The one bump we hit was installing the granite steps from our sliding door. When we were reviewing the project up front, we looked at the door and I mentioned some leaking. When we got to placing the granite the board under the door was rotten. It would have been nice if DW had a person or we had scheduled for a carpenter to make the fix before setting things “for good.” I was able to get someone in while the project worked on other things.

It worked out well, but it could have cost a few days if I hadn’t been able to get a carpenter asap. The finished patio is exactly what we had imagined. We love it. We will be looking forward to more work with these guys in the future.

Design Works did an amazing job creating the backyard oasis my husband and I had always envisioned. We have a very private back yard that we rarely used due to the fact we are away most summer weekends. We wanted to make use of our backyard during the fall, winter and spring seasons. We were also concerned about keeping the project in the spirit of our antique home.

When we met with Design Works, we knew that they got it! Design Works created a beautifully landscaped patio area with a hot tub that perfectly kept with the theme of our home. They utilized stones from our property and planted natural low maintenance plantings. They were on time, on budget and a pleasure to work with. We love our Oasis and receive compliments on the project all the time!! Highly recommend working with Design Works. They are a talented team!
