I chose the name Sitescapes as a reflection of my design philosophies. One of which is site specific. I approach every project as a unique opportunity to take the clients needs, along with existing site conditions and transform these into innovative solutions. Solutions that will enhance the use of your site creating its own individual charm. Your house and garden are not considered separate entities but seen as one cohesive unit where horticulture and architecture are joined to create a harmonious spatial experience. The landscape that results is an experience in space and time. The motivator is the client, the backdrop is the site, and the outcome is one that the family derives great pleasure from.

Welcome to Sitescapes, an award winning local landscape design/build company located in Stony Brook, NY. Over the years I have had the opportunity to create many unique gardens in the local community. The landscapes featured range from entire property makeovers to specific areas that clients wanted to improve.
We are an award winning Residential Landscape Design & Build company that designs and installs all of our own projects - one project at a time. I am personally present on site at every project, working with my crew to make your project a success. We met with Neil in 2020 with a rough idea in what we wanted for our yard. His hand-drawn plans completely surprised us and we knew we'd let him take the reigns and execute his vision without too many questions. Over the next year, Neil and his boys completely transformed our overgrown, poorly-drained backyard into a design we couldn't have executed both alone, or with another company.
His attention to detail, perfectionism, and visions are what made us so grateful we decided to use Sitescapes. There's a true difference when you work with a landscaper and general contractor, versus a formally trained landscape architect, and artist. If you want your home's outdoor living space to *not* look like a cookie-cutter yard, definitely call Neil. We are so happy.

We had several landscape designers look at our property and submit designs for our backyard. Neil was far and away the most impressive in terms of having a unique vision while incorporating everything we wanted. What was even more impressive, was how quickly he and his team were able to execute the vision even with weather delays. Neil is always responsive and accountable. I highly recommend Sitescapes. It was a pleasure working with them, and I hope to work with them more in the future.

We went out last night with some friends and invited them back to the house. First time we had people over since the completion of our project. Well, everyone was blown away! Neil, apparently it's not just you and I who think it looks "sick" - I heard the word resort used a lot last night. Most importantly everyone enjoyed being in the spaces you created. Anyway, it's nice to hear others are enjoying the space as much as we are. Thanks again to you and the Sitescapes crew for a great job!

I was really at a loss as far as what to do with our property. After putting a pool in last summer, the yard was all dug up and just looked terrible. I knew we had to do something but I wasn't sure what. After reading other reviews, I gave Neil a call. He responded immediately and was at our house an hour later to walk around with us. He told us what we needed to hear about issues with the layout and placement of certain things in our yard, like some oddly placed trees, the swing set, some rocks.
He offered a few different suggestions in different price ranges, giving us enough options to find something that fit our budget. And even though our official completion date wasn't listed until April 1, he promised he would do what he could to get to us as soon as possible. And within 3 days, he and his crew showed up. They were fast, clean, and efficient and we are thrilled with the results!
It's amazing how quickly Neil was able to so easily identify the trouble spots and fix them to our satisfaction, without breaking our bank. We will definitely be using Neil and Sitescapes Land Design again, next time for the front yard!

Neil Markey of Sitescapes is spectacular. His ability to envision a landscape and then execute his design is flawless. He transformed our overgrown and outdated yard into a masterpiece rivaling that of a luxury resort. Neil and his spectacular team work incredibly hard and are highly professional. I had a very positive experience with Neil and his team. I had a full revamp of my yard, all new plantings, stone work, new grass, basically everything. Neil came up with some great ideas, was transparent around what it would cost for different ideas, and made it easy to understand for someone who isn't in the landscaping architecture business. Also, Neil was on-site every day doing the work with his team. He was always available to answer questions and gave me update phone calls throughout the project. His crew was courteous and clean, and he left the place spotless.

We hired Neil to redesign our patio area. From concept to completion, he was professional, knowledgeable and accommodating, all in addition to his talent as a designer. Neil is an artist whose medium is landscape design. When our schedule changed and we needed to postpone our project, Neil was understanding and flexible. Any time we were unsure about a part of the design, he listened to us carefully and either convinced us of his reasoning or worked with us to come up with an alternative that was pleasing to us without compromising his overall vision.
Although our project was small for him (completed in less than a week), it was big to us and he always made us feel it was just as important to him as it was to us. Neil was recommended to us and we recommend him to anyone looking to create a work of art out of their yard. We look outside every day and thank him for a job so well done.

We love the new design Neil created for our backyard. We had been struggling with a slope, erosion, an old brick patio and minimal landscaping. Neil did a great job of designing a gracious walkway to our door, and a large brick patio surrounded by evergreens, perennials, varied design elements, and it has changed everything. We now use our patio as an outdoor room, and love every season of the colors and contrasts in the surrounding beds. He and his crew were dependable, courteous, and met all our expectations.
