Your landscape and garden beds can be a source of pride and beauty twelve months of the year here in South Texas. Milberger's was voted the Best Plant Nursery in San Antonio because of what we offer you: year-around color for your garden beds, trees and shrubs for your landscape, turf grass and water features.
The most beautiful and productive gardens beds are the result of planning the size, shape and location. In South Texas it is important to select plants and blooms that are well adapted to our climate. For the inside of your house or office Milberger's offers a choice of plants that can add a healthy and pleasant ambiance to your interior design.
Milberger's regularly carries over fifty varieties of Antique and Modern roses that are recommended by Texas A&M and the San Antonio Rose Society. January thru February - As the weather and ground warm up, around mid to late February, organic fertilizers may be applied. Give each large bush. March thru May - The initial feeding should be chemical, either liquid or dry. It is applied when spring pruning is completed. Carl Pool, Green Light, Miracle-Gro, Peters or Rapid-Gro are all good soluble fertilizers.
These are the rose varieties that Milberger's stocks on a regular basis. Because we may sell out, or specific stock may be unavailable not all varieties are available all of the time. Old garden roses that preceded modern varieties. An incredibly diverse group of plants, with great variety in plant habit (the size and shape), flower form, and fragrance.

They raise the price overnight on me. Called on Tuesday ask for the grass prices told them I was picking up tomorrow Wednesday. They gave me a price for the grass and my customer agreed to the price. Showed up on Wednesday morning and the price went up 20%. One of the employees outside told me they raised all the prices 20% across the board on everything from yesterday.
I told the person on the phone Tuesday I was coming to pick the grass up. He could have told me the prices were going up on Wednesday so I would not end up losing so much money on the job.

Spring time is my favorite time to shop here. It was a beautiful morning today. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable; the tree guy was impressive when helping us pick a fast growing tree. We've been coming here for years even when our Red tips got a fungus the manager advised us how to take care of it.

I am just getting into gardening and visited Milberger's for the first time. I meandered around aimlessly for about 15 minutes and was never once acknowledged by the staff. I didn't even see anyone that looked like staff as they weren't wearing or didn't seem to be wearing anything that stood out. I needed help and was looking for advice and a friendly smile to encourage my questions but instead had to wait in line at the register for another 20 minutes just to say that I don't know anything about gardening and was looking for some advice on soil.etc.
I was briskly set aside to follow someone to a person that knew about the plant I needed the soil for and wasn't even asked what type it was or anything else. I felt discouraged vs excited after leaving with my soil that I regretted buying. If you're an avid gardener that knows everything you need to know I'm sure it's a great place. I'll be visiting Rainbow or Fanick's from now on (even though I live less than 1 mile from Milberger's.)

I had the BEST experience with Milbergers this morning! We drove up and noticed they were BUSY! That didn't deter any of their helpful workers to direct me to the exact trees I was looking for. The "tree guy" was AMAZING! I can't remember his name, he gave me so much information on what to look for and expect in the trees I was buying. Everyone was in a great mood and wanted to help. I was even directed to a shorter checkout line outside, to help get the busy crowd moving. This place is awesome!

Milbergers needs to work on misinformation, honoring what employees have told you, and common sense. I've posted a picture of plants I've gotten from there, and notice the one with a flag - is a bush, which I got two of. One of the bushes died, and I simply wanted an exchange. I called them on the phone and was advised to bring the bush up for an exchange or refund (didnt want a refund, wanted an exchange) - this is the only product from them which died.
This year, I bought multiple trees, bushes, flowers - over a grand. It will be my last. When I arrived, with my recent after a promise on the phone of a refund or exchange (again, I wanted an exchange, I didn't want a refund) - I was advised it wouldn't happen by the manager. "First off." he started to preach to me in an over superior fashion - he advised me that it died bc I over watered it. So, I asked to show him the picture you see - and he refused. "Each plant is different." - yes, but it's twin is fine, healthy - with fruit. (The one with the flag.) The bush was a dud, they lied on the phone to get me in person, only to be rude - and condescending.
There are better alternatives in town to spend your hard earned money on, I don't know about you - but I don't like taking a match to my money in which I work for - to be lied to and talked down to. Deals don't happen with a handshake anymore, but this is called professional responsibility and customer service. Check out anywhere but here, I came here bc I try to support local small business but with service like this, Lowes or a small nursery, anywhere but here it will be. I'm posting other pictures of my garden too, does it look like my issue is related to over watering? Looks pretty solid to me.

The place is huge and fully stocked. They have a variety of what seemed like almost everything. I wish I had more time to fully walk the entire grounds, because there was so much to see. Definitely going back when I don't have to be at work. Made contact w/a few employees who were kind and helpful. I overheard what seemed to be a live podcast or broadcast while shopping.
They seemed to be talking about how to care for plants, which I thought was cool. I think adding a kid section or maybe a live band would be an even better experience and definitely a great hang out for families to get out too. Especially since Covid has taken so much, this could be a great concept to be outdoors social distancing in a small sense.
