Ostvig Tree Care provides full-service tree and shrub care around the Twin Cities and throughout Minnesota. Left to their own devices, your trees will prune themselves - sometimes onto your roof or car. Your plants need regular pruning and care to look their best and stay healthy. Pruning trees and shrubs is essential to maintaining healthy plants. It's important to remove dead or diseased wood, to increase air circulation to the plant's interior and to increase flower and fruit production.
Some occur with regularity and others strike when conditions are right. With the right expertise, they're preventable and controllable. We can diagnose plant ailments, control or eliminate existing disease or insect infestation, and prevent infestations and disease from happening again. Trees, like any other living thing, are susceptible to diseases.
No matter how small or large, when we remove trees or shrubs from your property, we leave it cleaner than we found it. Cutting down a tree without professional help could be risky. If you have no enough experience and knowledge, please do not attempt to cut down or remove a tree to prevent injuries and for general safety.

I had 2 trees ash trees removed and ground down. They responded quickly to my initial call and estimate. Tree removal was delayed until required winter restrictions were over. They left the yard a lot better condition than they came. No additional work is needed by me. They removed trees very professionally. I would gladly use them again for future tree work.

This was my first experience with Ostvig Tree Co. Their team showed up promptly at the 8 AM appt time. 2 young fellows, Harris and Wyatt, warmly greeted me, and because I was wearing a mask, asked if I would like them to don one, too. I didn't because we'd be outside, but I sure appreciated the courtesy of being asked. They confimed with me what I wanted them to accomplish, and then directly set about it.
My doorside Juniper needed a good haircut/shaping. Harris spent 45 minutes alternately cutting, then standing back to observe how his pruning affected the juniper's appearance, then returning to cutting. 3/4 finished, he knocked and asked me how I thought his work was going, so I could stand away, evaluate the juniper, and confirm my satisfaction or ask for further pruning.
Up in a cherry picker bucket, Wyatt was a pleasure to watch as he cut away all the dead branches from my willow and ash trees. Wyatt doesn't waste his movements, so he looked sort of balletic up there, intensely focused, rapid, nimble and deft with each cut. After branch removal, Wyatt swept the roof clean of tree-chaff, and then thoughtfully asked if I'd like him to reposition my bird feeder onto another tree, and did so. Harris let me pick his brains about the art of pruning and about taming /shaping the growth of my mugo pines.
He was skilled and informed. After the front yard work, the team quickly cut down a large yew tree hugging the backside of the house. They then carried the trunk and branches out to their chipper in the street, collected all the downed front yard branches, twigs and juniper cuttings and chippered them, returned to survey all work areas and cleaned up some more, and left everything swept free of twigs and chaff.
I couldn't have been more satisfied with their personable demeanors and their work skills. It's clear to me that Ostvig puts time into developing their people, and I will now regard them as "my" tree servicers the next time I need tree work.

Ostvig did a great job removing a few dead and problem trees. Highly skilled guys who did not let a single branch hit our house and cleaned up quickly leaving no sign of debris behind. They also cut down some problem buckthorn for us for free. I would highly recommend these guys for any tree services needed, great to work with and honest.

Ostvig did an excellent job of removing a huge old oak in our back yard. They scheduled it to our wants & were there right on time. Virtually everything about their service was excellent, with cooperative employees. On the same trip, they trimmed a number of other trees well and cleaned up thoroughly. Their bid was reasonable and we feel that we got great service.

I highly recommend Ostvig Tree Care they did a fantastic job extremely experienced and professional. I had over half dozen quotes their pricing was the best and they had all the equipment needed for my large project and cleaned up so nice after the job was done. Of all the proposals, Ostvig provided the best overall value and capability for removing several large trees. These trees were all within a few feet of the house. They had the right equipment and the crew was super professional and friendly. They were clearly experienced, did the work very well, protected the site, cleaned up thoroughly when complete, all well within the time they had promised.

As someone who has done tree service before, I can honestly say Ostvig's services are exceptional. From the first step of getting a quote, to the final clean up, everything was perfect. We had several trees removed and several others trimmed, and everything went according to plan, and was done quickly and professionally. Five stars is an understatement.

Russ is very slow to respond to any communication and not very thorough or clear which resulted in a misunderstanding and eventually to their refusal to do the work. Russ originally visited, reviewed the work and gave a verbal quote which we agreed to pay. The work to be done was to trim several trees around the house and to remove 3 trees. 6 days later we received the quote.
I immediately signed and returned the agreement with a note added that I assumed that the tree removal included the removal of the stumps (which was not noted in the agreement). When I still had not received any response a week after returning the agreement with the notes, I sent another email that I was concerned about the lack of response to my emails.
He did reply to that email and said he needed to visit again to actually see the other trees that I wanted to have removed. At that time, he did not mention my note saying that I expected the stumps to be removed also. 6 days after the 2nd visit, I received the revised quote. This quote noted the chipping of some stumps but not 2 of the ones on the original quote.
I added a note that I expected those 2 trees to include chipping and signed and returned the quote. The next day he replied that we had not discussed the removals of those stumps and they could do that but it would require added cost. I sent an email explaining why I felt we had talked about it and pointed out that he had not objected to my note on the original quote.
He then emailed that he would not do the work at all. I immediately replied that I wanted them to do the work and that I would pay for the chipping of the 2 stumps in question. He did not have the courtesy of responding or acknowledging that email. So, we were left in the lurch a month after I thought we had an agreement. Very disappointing!

Osvig was a delight to work with. Russ came out and gave me a reasonable quote to trim several "squirrel damaged" trees. Before Russ came out, I had thought the trees were so damaged that they would have to be removed. Russ convinced me they could all be saved with proper trimming. Ostvig came on time and did the job quickly and cleanly. They even worked around other workers I had on my property that day. I will be hiring Ostvig to come back in the Fall to trim some large old Red Oaks I have as well!

We used Ostvig Tree Service for major tree pruning. They came out promptly and gave a fair & accurate estimate. They scheduled the job, were on time, did GREAT work, were very friendly (my wife was home- had some Q's, they were very courteous & knowledgeable), and did an amazing job! Cleaned up everything, and they did the job with a full crew and a huge 4x4 boom lift in a few hours! The invoice was for the price quoted, and they did some extra work without charging. VERY happy!
