In the early 1930s, my grandfather, John T. Patton, left the family farm in Virginia and brought his wife and kids north to Maryland to start a landscaping business in Montgomery County. John's company installed sod at commercial and residential sites in Maryland, Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. Six of his ten children eventually entered the landscaping field, starting with my dad, Raymond, who founded R. P. Patton & Sons in 1936. From my granddad's day forward, the Patton family name always has been associated with the highest standards of quality and service.
Services
The Turf Center Lawns team consists of hardworking and dedicated professionals who are committed to providing lawn care and landscaping services that exceed your expectations. Together, we form a loyal, diverse, yet close-knit, group that takes great pride in its accomplishments. We also know how to have fun.
For the past 12 years, we have fought global warming by recycling our own dirt, mulch, leaves, plants and old sod at our private one-acre site devoted solely to recycling biodegradable waste products. Our efforts have reclaimed an estimated 25,000 tons of lawn waste and debris since 1997. When you hire Turf Center Lawns to clear your property of underbrush, leaves or other material, you can rest assured that you are helping reduce the effects of pollution, not adding to the problem.None of the biodegradable waste material we remove ever ends up in a county dump or incinerator.
If you have a green thumb, a landscaping background, a love of the outdoors or if you simply enjoy working with your hands, Turf Center Lawns may have a place for you. We're an equal opportunity employer that hires to fill both skilled and unskilled positions. Our typical hiring season runs from March to October.
On behalf of Friends of Guy Mason Recreation Center and the many users of the Guy Mason playground, I want to thank you for your very generous gesture of spreading new wood chips throughout the playground. This was, indeed, a very pleasant surprise. Your staff did a very nice job, and the playground looks great.

I found Turf Center in the "Best Picks" brochure and was really excited to work with them. From beginning to refund-of-deposit, however, it was disappointing. Scheduling someone to come out and assess my lawn was painless. Phone call, someone came, we talked about what would happen, they left. I was genuinely excited about what was going to be done.
It took a few days for me to receive an estimate by email. I called and paid the deposit and was told I'd get a call back for when I was scheduled. I never got that call. I waited a few days before calling back and asking about my scheduled day. The office had no idea and had to check with one of the landscapers. Finally, I was told, "either the 10th or 11th next week - most likely the 10th." So I worked my schedule around being available both days.
It is 12:30pm on the 11th as I write this and I just got off the phone with the office who had no idea I was scheduled for yesterday or today. The landscapers were no-call no-show. I was told I'd be taken care of either Monday or Tuesday next week. At that point, I just asked for a refund. I'm very disappointed because I'm sure the landscapers would have done a great job, but the office and scheduling really dropped the ball on this one. For the price they were charging, simply knowing when, or that I was even scheduled, should not have been an issue.
