Sandra was excellent. I asked for help in how much 3/8 gold gravel I needed. Sent her the design. In less than an hour Sandra sent me the amount required. It was perfect amount. Sandra was very professional and patient. I will go back to Pete's as a result. Marc. Services: Yard landscaping, Rock landscaping

We ordered top soil to cover 1/2 of our yard (15 tons), and then crusher fines for the same area (15 tons). These 2 deliveries were okay. Then we ordered top soil for the remaining 1/2 (15 more tons). This delivery was short. We did not get what we paid for. To make matters worse, the soil was about 1/4 to 1/3 very large rocks and construction debris (sprinkler pipes.).
The driver said he would come back and pick up the rocks. I called the office 3 different times, and was told we would get an additional 4 tons of soil to make up for the short load, and that they would need equipment to load the rocks. It took several weeks, but we finally got the soil. Unfortunately, after 3 different calls to the office, we never did get them to pick up and haul off the rocks and other junk.
My husband spent a lot of time removing all the junk from the soil to be able to spread the soil. It was back breaking work for anyone, but especially for a senior citizen. Pete's should be ashamed of themselves. I would not recommend using this business. Needless to say we used another company to order the crusher fines needed to complete the job. It turns out the other company was significantly lower priced as well!

I purchased firewood from Pete's. I requested seasoned oak which they said they have and list on their website. Unfortunately, the wood is not seasoned and still has a high moisture content. It is very difficult to light and constantly smokey. I called twice and emailed customer service to discuss my concerns and see if there is a possible resolution.
I have yet to hear back over the course of 3 months. I have not used their other services, so I do not want this review to reflect the entirety of their company, but I would not recommend purchasing fire wood from Pete's.

We use Pete's Firewood and the benefits of having seasoned, uniformly cut pieces is something you do not find at the roadside firewood dealer. The prices are above what I would say is average, but this quality of product and service is well above most, if not all, of the Rio Grande Valley's choices in firewood dealers, so I gladly pay the going rate per cord.

A cord of firewood should measure 128 cubic feet and generally has the dimensions of 4' x 4' x 8' when stacked. What Pete's described over the phone as a 1/4 cord or "rack" and available for pick-up measured 4' x 1.5' x 3' in person. This is just 18 cubic feet, far less than the 32 cubic feet that an actual 1/4 of a cord of firewood should measure.
The "rack" unit of sale offered at Peet's is also not in agreement with NM Law (see below). Furthermore, what was initially represented over the phone as 1/4 of a cord (32 cubic feet) was found to far less in person When questioned about the discrepancy the office and yard staff just said that was the price and offered little in the way of an explanation.
When I asked what the price of a full cord sold for I was give a price that included delivery. Using this price, I quickly calculated that their "rack" quantity of fuelwood was just about 2x's more than their full cord pricing! I would not recommend purchasing fuelwood from Pete's as they don't adhere to accepted units of measure and implement a sliding price scale that is disadvantageous customers.
Per NM regulations- New Mexico State Law, Chapter 57-17-1 through 19, NMSA, 1978 Compilation. The associated regulation (NMAC 21.16.4.9. K) states, "Fuelwood: Shall be advertised, offered for sale, and sold only by the cord or fractional part of a cord, except it may be sold by weight if the seller declares the price per unit of weight and the equivalent price per cord.
The provisions of this method of sale shall not apply to fuelwood sold in packaged form in bundles of less than one hundred (100) pounds." Any unspecified quantity or amount of firewood, advertised or sold, is prohibited. For example, one cannot place an ad in the paper or advertise selling a "truckload" of wood (Figure 2). When selling more than 100 lb of firewood, the vendor must provide the cord equivalent, such as 1/4 or 1/2 cord or other fractions of a cord. If a vendor chooses to sell firewood by weight, they must provide the total amount of wood in pounds, price per pound, and the equivalent price per cord.

My parents front yard was becoming more and more difficult to take care on their own. So, it was decided out with the grass and in with the Xeriscape! Contacted Pete's Landscaping and they were able to come out the very next day for a estimate. When Pete's crew arrived to begin the process; there were several workers and equipment. This was in the afternoon.
We didn't think they would get all the grass out. Yet, they moved at lightening speed! At 5:00pm, they let us know that they would be back at 7:00am the next day to finish the job. They were on the nose at 7:00am the following day. The job was completed just prior to 10:00am. They were quick, efficient and very courteous. The job was done quickly and completely. I'd recommend them to anyone wanted to do anything to their yards.

I rate this company no stars. mainly because the experience our family had bordered on "elder abuse". There was a "hard sell" and a huge estimate (double of what the company that actually did it for) plus on top of the outrageous estimate, the process was literally NOT needed. what was proposed was a long drawn out process, (10+ days once started - and the start time kept being pushed off for more than a month). come to find out the other company had the entire job done in 2 days! CRAZY! Then, when it was asked to recoup the deposit, as services were not going to be rendered in a timely fashion, and after the office manager and the sales person called my mother a liar and after we could NOT get anyone to return calls and after my mother got yelled at by both the manager, the owner, and the salesman!
We finally had to get a lawyer and other family involved to get the money back. Be wary of what is promised. We are thankful this is finally settled. So, one star due to the fact we did finally get the deposit returned and this experience is done.

Do NOT order from Pete's landscaping! I spent $1000 on gravel, and before I purchased I brought them a sample of the gravel I needed matched (grey). They delivered the wrong gravel (brown). When I went back to explain that the wrong gravel was delivered they told me that there was a coating of clay on the gravel and it would turn gray after the rain/snow.
Six months later my yard is multicolored and destroyed and I have to pay to have this removed and redone. (I've already paid over $1000 in labor!) I called their office and the rude lady pretty much told me I'm out of luck. "It might not match but there isn't anything I can do - everyone mixes colors." When I told her I was staring at brown patches in my grey yard, she told me that they sold me grey stone. "I am looking at it and it is brown" I said.
She laughed at me and said "well I'm sure it's fine". She then told me my yard didn't look horrible or tie dyed - even though she has NEVER SEEN IT. I will be contacting an attorney because this is the most ridiculous experience I have had in homeownership. HORRIBLE SERVICE.

I ordered a delivery of 12 cubic yards of soil builder from Pete's. After the delivery I called and told the owner Sandra that our order was short by a significant amount. She was rude and laughed at me several times on the phone and told me she took care of the order herself and it was 12 yards. She did this without even seeing a picture of what was delivered.
I asked for an email to send a picture of the delivery. I sent her this picture of the "12 yards" sitting next to my Nissan Frontier. She called back after a few minutes and told me it is indeed 12 cubic yards of material. She then proceeded to try to sell me more.no thank you. I'm only giving them 1 star because I have to give them a star to post. I will never again buy anything from Pete's.
