Kendall Mc Cumber Fine Garden

We tried to become a good customer, but the arrogant attitude of the owner was too much to take. we planned several thousand dollars for our project. We were holding on the phone and overheard nasty comments about us. Shame on her! Go elsewhere.

We put off landscaping our yard during covid. This fall I saw an Instagram post from McCumber and decided to check out their website. I called and setup a site visit. Kendall listened to all the ideas I had dreamed up for two years and gave me the game plan on how we could make it work. Her crew showed up as scheduled, worked efficiently, and left the areas they worked in clean and neat.

Great communication daily and prompt response to emails and phone calls. I'll return to McCumber in the spring to buy my plants for the garden boxes and anything else I dream up! I highly recommend this company.

I love this place! I went in to look for a pot for a plant and was amazed at what I stumbled across! I pass this place all the time on Old Las Vegas Highway and figured even though their bread and butter was probably landscaping, I might still be able to find a small ceramic planter. Apparently, not only to they create waterfalls for people's back yards, but they also have an excellent selection of very happy healthy house plants, even a few of the harder to find types you see on Instagram and lust after.

They have tons of pots from giant glazed works of art to the simple and affordable terra cota variety I needed for my tiny Agave plant, and the staff was happy not only to help me find what I needed, but they also graciously punched a hole for drainage for me because I know I would have broken it trying. The whole place is like a botanical garden where you can actually take the plants home with you, if you can afford them.

They range in price (from my perspective) from totally within range to I need to win the lottery to buy that, but based on how good they looked and how long some had to grow to reach the size they were, I'd say the prices I saw were appropriate. And if you make sure your timing is okay with the staff, they even allow well behaved dogs to accompany you as you wander around looking at all the beautiful things on display. I can't wait to go back just to take more photos!

I was strolling through fine farms garden and I was greeted with a tour and had participated in the succulent garden planting which was a great time and wonderful gift for a loved one! I really enjoyed this project! Will definitely do this again!

So happy with the plants we bought yesterday. Everyone should see this beautiful place and pick up some new plant babies! (And pet the big doggies)

Although I admire the work McCumber Fine Garden landscaping does to maintain some of the public medians in Santa Fe, I found it impossible to get projects scheduled with this unresponsive business. In order to arrange for a representative to visit your home to assess your landscaping projects, a $200 'consultation fee' is required. Even once the fee is paid, it took two e-mails, four phone calls and a personal visit to their office to try to arrange a meeting.

When the office manager was 'too busy' to speak with me in person, I requested a refund of my consultation fee. Clearly this business is too busy to take on new clients at this time.

This is the place to visit! If you're looking to spice up your garden or get professionals to do it for you, McCumber has it all. There new green houses have great perennial starters.

Walking up the natural stones steps leads to an entrance of another world. Sincerely one of the most beautiful garden centers I have been into. Staff was incredibly helpful and I came home with probably more than I should have.

I have done business with these folks for over 10 years. I am very happy. They are reliable, friendly, responsive to any issues that arise and my portal and yard are beautiful every year. I highly recommend McCumber Fine Gardens.

We just completed a large garden extension. McCumber and crew did a wonderful job! They built a beautiful kiva fireplace and a unique gate surround. They added on to my irrigation and planted over two hundred plants, shrubs and trees. It's breathtaking! Thank you, Kendall, Eduardo, Andrew, Delaino, and all your hardworking crews. It was a pleasure working with you.

Don't even think about calling these people. They will lie about prices and the time it takes to do the work, they will make excuses why things take longer, they will get defensive anytime you ask a question or attempt to give them feedback. They charge $45/hr per person and the guys work at a snails pace. They charged $500 To put in 15 small plants (in a bed that already had irrigation lines). In short Kendall and Henry McCumber have very low integrity and do not value the customer.

I'm soo incredibly disappointed with Kendall and her son, I was happy to have found them and thought they would operate with integrity. Kendall the owner sent me a list of all the things I asked to be done with the time it would take for the laborers to do it. When the laborers would leave early I didn't say anything because I assumed they would be completing the work regardless since I paid $180 an hour for 4 workers. I'm sure their not paying laborers $45 an hour!

They didn't finish the job after I paid $4223! They didn't deliver the crusher fine or finish what we agreed upon. Anytime my husband or I gave feedback we were met with extreme argumentative behavior by Kendall and her son Henry. Zero customer service! They charge the highest amount and deliver the lowest value!

Not at all clear what is going on at this place. I drove ALL THE WAY there to discover few staff, huge vases, a small greens house. It's not obvious what anyone is doing there.

McCumber Fine Gardens is a full service local landscape company in Santa Fe. From landscape design, garden maintenance, landscape irrigation install and hardscaping - one would we well served by McCumber Fine Gardens. We have worked with Kendall and her team for about two years on our home and have the highest regards for them. Kendall helped us modify an existing blah garden into one that was peaceful and dog friendly as well as having a lot of visual interest in terms of plants and pots that were placed in the garden. Kendall also designs/creates beautiful plant baskets that are both vibrant and appropriate for the NM climate.

It was always a joy to see our regular garden maintenance crew at our place. They know what they are doing and are very knowledgeable about the plants, maintenance and irrigation systems. Most importantly, they care about the wellbeing of the gardens they maintain. We knew that our gardens was always in good hands. We highly recommend McCumber Fine Gardens!

I was uncertain if the Garden Shop was open when I drove past but took a chance and I'm so glad I did! Beautiful, healthy plants and gorgeous, high quality, unusual planters/pots/decorative pieces like nothing I've seen in SF. Kendall went out of her way to be helpful with care tips and it was a pleasure to be in the shop.

Kendall has no concept of customer service or manners. We had a huge landscaping project for the house and we were considering all of our options for the task. Myself nor my partner are from here so we came with questions. Maybe it's because we weren't from here or she couldn't answer our BASIC questions but she was not at all welcoming. She acted put out and uninterested the entire time until it came to talking money.

She was incredibly passive aggressive and condescending. EXTREMELY defensive about everything. She kept speaking over me the entire time. Initially there was a ton of communication until we told her we had met with other companies (Desert Rose Landscaping, Scott's, Lucid and a few others). Let your work and professionalism speak for your business, it's pathetic and desperate bad mouthing other business owners. Kendall is rude, unprofessional, unpleasant, confrontational at ALL times, disrespectful, a liar, uneducated and unskilled to work in the landscaping industry.

How they have made any money is beyond me. This is how the OWNER behaves?! I would hate to see her employees based on her truly appalling performance. Don't bother with this company. You can't expect business acting like a high school mean girl. god get some manners and some serious help for your attitude (it's repulsive). Go where you're appreciated not just your wallet.

That's why we happily blocked her number and went with Desert Rose Landscaping (actual locals, family owned and operated, polite friendly educated staff all around, open to/answers questions, knows customer service, time management and how to properly communicate in addition to incredible landscaping). Immensely elated that we opted for another company after meeting Kendall!

Unlike the reviewer below this I have actually met Kendall and her staff and seen a lot of their jobs. Many of her employees have been with her for more than a decade and many of her clients have had her landscape multiple garden, having her back a second or third time after a move or doing the work in phases. That pretty much speaks for itself. Very profession small business from start to finish. They have a big enough team to meet our needs yet are small enough to be professional, personable and knowledgable and to add a personal touch to their designs, installations and overall service.

Excellent landscaping! Ms. McCumber is the best. She is professional and her crews are exceptional. I have enjoyed the work of McCumber Fine Garderns. I can't wait to see what this coming Spring brings. This past year Spring and Summer were amazing with so much color!

McCumber did an excellent job for us 15 years ago but when I hired them a week ago to do yard maintenance the crew tried to leave early, did not weed.had to tell them too. missed lots of debris when they blew off the portals, charged a lot, and when I complained became defensive.said they had confidence in their crew.but they were not at my home and I experienced very poor service.

We spent more than $30,000 with Kendall's company for a landscape installation and irrigation system. Once we only need support services, we are a pain in their butts. We get the runaround. We get the no-call-back treatment. We get blamed for *their* lack of communication. We are on the receiving end of Kendall's hyper-defensiveness at any inquiry, no matter how trivial. You, the customer, are wrong. Period.

Her irrigation guy will pretend to be your bud, your buffer from Kendall's rude outbursts, then stab you in the back. Truly bizarre behavior. Actually, their crews are very nice and conscientious. But you will have to deal with Kendall and Delaino. Who needs it? Work with someone who appreciates your business. Look elsewhere. One star for their nice medians on Paseo de Peralta.
