Good hardware store, Garden store, bait shop, and more. Get my sweet potatoes and onion seedlings here in the spring, good seed selection, all the Espoma fertilizer products which I think are the best, plus lots of other brands. Garden amendments including peat moss, potting soils and garden soils. Operates a relatively large scale inventory for a local Agway.
The staff are all very helpful, friendly, personal, knowledgeable. They have three cats that roam around and usually one or two are at the cash register to be patted at any given time. They have a second store in Danvers.

Absolutely love this place. consistently find what I'm looking for at the best price here. employees are awesome, phone usually answered by a teenager but they always have the info im looking for quickly. we drive out from Albany but it's worth it and a nice drive. someone is always available to load my car for me. we get really great fresh hay from here for our bunny as well as pretty much everything we have needed for the garden this year. super grateful, thank you!

I've been a customer for 20 years and this medium sized family owned store is wonderful for all things animal, pet, bird, gardener and home care like water treatment and heating. The staff and owner are highly knowledgeable and wonderful people. If you don't see it they will get it! It's not a big chain so you may pay a little more but the prices are usually on par and the quality is exceptional. They make supporting local an easy choice.

Vendor delivery- location is very tight. If cars are parked on the other side of the street, or snow piled up, it's near impossible to get oriented to unload. Manager and staff are great! Employees moved personal vehicles for me to park. Manager Unloaded after receiving hours and was very efficient. Store yard and store front are tidy and pleasant to view. I enjoyed my delivery.

Visited this Agway recently with a friend. Experienced terrible service from cashier and manager. We weren't told the store would be closing and when we arrived at the register to pay for the items selected, were greeted by a hostile manager complaining that he wanted to "get home too and didn't feel like staying there all night." It was 4:00 PM. Very rude and unprofessional. Will drive and additional 30 miles to avoid using this locale in the future Zero stars.

If you are looking to buy bird food avoid this place. I called today to ask for 50 lbs of shelled peanuts and 50 lbs of shelled sunflower seeds. The woman who answered the phone was rude and said "yes we have peanuts in the shell". I said "no, I want shelled peanuts" and she said, "I told you we have peanuts in the shell". I said "I want shelled peanuts".
She said "yes we have them". I asked her "how much for 50 lbs of shelled sunflower seeds and how much for 50 lbs of shelled peanuts". She said "I will check". She put the phone down and I could hear her waiting on customers, who appeared to be waiting in line to check out, which I fully understand is more important. After listening to her waiting on customers for 10 minutes, I could hear that she was not waiting on customers anymore.
I then yelled in the phone, "Hello, I am still waiting" a couple of times. She then hung up the phone and when I tried to call back it rang at least 10 times and went to voicemail. After that, I went online to Chewy.com and found each of these products with free delivery. I even setup to "Auto-Ship the product very 5 months. This appears to be a "win-win" for both Agway and me. They don't have to provide any customer service and I don't ever have to buy anything from Agway again.

Visiting Agway used to be a staple every week when I lived in Bolton with a team of huskies. That was long ago. Now in West Newton, I thought I would have to drive all the way out to Leominster to find a friendly Agway. But no! Right here in Waltham is a friendly, wonderful, and nearby Agway that has everything I need for my summer garden, including chickens if I decide to set up a coop. Excited is not the word. Ecstatic is.

Nice store! No idea why there are so many negative reviews. I'm not sure if it's hipsters who pretend to be into "urban gardening" until they actually see what a real garden/farm supply store looks like, or what. The staff is super friendly, and there's pretty much everything you'd expect from a local garden store. I went for bird seed, and there was an entire aisle of it, plus nice big bulk bags of it too.
They have a discount program you can sign up for if you buy a lot, and they also run bulk specials at well for like half price on some of the seed. Staff were really friendly and eager to help/carry stuff as well. Really nice place.

No frills gardening and etc store. I go here to get some of the supplies I need for my veggie garden. They have really good deals on seeds (especially bulk seeds), seed starting supplies, cover crops, bulbs, and potatoes/onions. Soil (bagged only) is higher priced than I expected, around the same or more than the urban garden shops I live near. I'm not sure about their flowers and veggie plants because I usually come earlier in the season. If you're a gardener or raise livestock I recommend checking it out.

Amazing family run business. I love going to this Agway, They are so helpful. They sell quality products and if they don't have it they will order it or tell me where to buy it. I buy all my chickens and product from them. I also buy all my lawn and plant care from them. I am picking up my organic turkey from them for thanksgiving. My family is so excited to know that they will be eating quality meat for dinner.

This is a great place to get whatever you need for gardening or landscaping. Pots and planters, tools, seeds, plant food, fencing, rabbit repellent, you name it. But they also have pet supplies, live bait, hardware, and absolutely everything you need to raise chickens (including peeps). They also offer apiculture supplies. Prices are reasonable, and the staff are very friendly and helpful - even the rodent control expert greeted me with a purr. 554 (weekdays) or 70A (weekdays & Saturday) bus route, or an easy walk from Waltham Common.

My primary reasons for frequenting Agway are chicken-associated. If you're thinking about raising chicks for the first time, I definitely recommend going through Agway in Waltham. Though my partner had some experience raising chicks/chickens, this was my first year going about it, and of course I had many, many questions. Dan has been really great from the day we brought home our tiny fluffballs, from letting me hem and haw about what chicks I wanted (and he made sure we were set up appropriately to raise and keep chickens), to letting me know what feed they needed when, to advice on what to do about a broken toe on our most adventurous/clumsy pullet (nothing, and she's fine, and I'm glad Dan dispelled the ridiculous internet advice) and how to alleviate the complications of our Easter Egger's cross-beak.
After we learned about coop security the hard and sad way (two *very* determined little escapees Shawshanked it), Dan gave me the run-down on how to fortify our coop. Super friendly and never bothered by my wacky questions. And of course - Ashley's Chickens (she provides the chicks they sell) are great.

Great variety of bird seed for your outdoor feeders along with most anything you would need for lawn and garden work at reasonable prices. A bit hard to find but worth the trip! I go there regularly for safflower seed and suet; their selection for this and other lawn/garden items seems better than the big box chains.

I needed to get some gifts for some nouveau-hippy urban farm types. I really had no idea that a place like this existed in such a densly populated urban-ish area like Waltham. This place is a great source of poultry supplies which was exactly what I needed. No, I'm not talking about buffalo wings, I talking about brooders, feeders etc for raising baby chicks into hens.
They also have supplies for when you're at the point of egg production. They also have gardening and lawn supplies as well as a decent selection of bird and pet supplies. Again, I figured I would have to go outside of Rte 128/I-95 for such items.but nope! Also, FYI. this isn't a glossy shiney chain store. It is what it is.
