Last year, they did a good job with a spring clean up, mulching, and wood chips, so I called Jim again about this year. He submitted a proposal with a price 50% more than last year's. When I called to ask him about this, he seemed to get angry; he raised his voice and said that he got "burned" on my job last year because of the hassle of getting wood chips. So, I told him to forget the wood chips and just do mulch.
He said he'd resubmit the proposal. The new proposal was still priced higher than last year's, even though now it was a smaller job. As it can be a hassle to find people, to go through this process, I decided to go ahead with it. So, a crew of two was here for about four hours. They got up most of the leaves, but they missed some places. They did not pick up the tree limbs that had fallen on the lawn or in the garden beds, and they didn't cut back the remaining dead flower stalks, as they had last year.
They mulched, but missed some places. A sub-par, incomplete job. And very expensive. I understand that it's really hard to make a living these days, but this is bad business.

Level Green has been taking care of our landscaping needs for decades, including installation of a storm water management system (bioretention "rain gardens"), restoration of flagstone sidewalk, seasonal cleanups, mowing, & snow plowing. Jim is a knowledgeable & skilled professional who we have come to trust & value for his advice & creative problem solving. Wonderful crews - we recommend them highly.
