It seem a lot of companies are high in demand and pricing since the popularity of house plant and garden. Some plants weren't worth the cost in my opinion and 90% of their pots were well over $10. The set up itself is nice and makes for enjoyable walk through and the staff was pleasant. Personally, I wouldn't return. If you're a plant lover, gardener or just need a pot for that dying plant; surely stop by if you're in the area.

I came here to get some plants for my back patio. I found the selection amazing however. I would think that a business that charges this much would have nicer employees. They were all rude! I would recommend Jesse Israel and sons. They were dismissive and just mean. As I was leaving my data on my phone had gone out and they refused to let me use their wifi to call an Uber after I spent 130 dollars and I Will not be returning to this place. Felt very judged and unwanted.
Get some customer service! EDIT: In response to owners reply. You might not want a wifi network marked bb barns guest. I'm just saying. Your business is beautiful and well stocked. Just not friendly or helpful. I asked a girl where a trowel was and she said. Good question .

Me and my wife had bad luck with shrubs we purchased at a large chain. This time we wanted to do it right and prepped our front yard for shrubs and flower bed. We stopped by BB Barns with hopes that maybe just maybe we'd have better luck here. We were overwhelmed with their selection. A staff member walking by asked if we needed anything, we told him what we were looking at doing.
The amount of courtesy and knowledge put us right at ease. The staff members there gave us every bit of instruction and tips we needed to feel confident on what to purchase and how to plant. They also offer Military/Veterans discounts on Monday. We loved the experience and will only be going to BB Barns for all our plant/landscaping needs!

BB Barnes is my favorite garden center of all the ones I've ever visited. At my age it's been a lot! The variety is excellent, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly and atmosphere low-key and relaxing. I receive many compliments on my garden and requests about my garden source. BTW I live 2 hours away and worth the trip.

Oh man you guys; this is long but worth the read! I had the most wonderful customer experience at B.B. Barns this weekend. I stopped over to get a replacement plant (as I am a serial plant killer) and I had the pleasure of interacting, in great length with Carol, Tess, and Jennifer. I made it a point to speak with the manager to tell him how amazing he, and they are doing.
I ran into Kathy first (such a sweet heart herself) and she introduced me to her friend Carol, who proceeded to spend roughly 10-15 minutes walking me all over the store showing me the plants with the best survival rate and offered advice on each one, explaining to me what they would need before I made another bad investment. She even gave me directions to a used book store down the road to purchase some used gardening books.
After interacting with her, I moseyed around the store a bit and found another plant I decided to make my victim, and when I went to check out and asked the cashier an exorbitant favor; to replace the pot that several plants were already home to, to a different pot with a drainage hole for better chances of survival. I did not expect this request to me possible at all, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask, right?
That's when she introduced me to Tess. I told her exactly what I needed, and even though there were customers waiting, no one was in a rush to go out of their way to try to make me happy. Tess took me to the pot area and as we discussed what I wanted, we both decided to repot the plant in a smaller, cheapo plastic pot, and she gave me a spare one while she took the time to repot my plants for me, so I could look at the the other pots and make sure it fit by sliding it in! (brilliant and helpful).
After spending a few minutes trying on the Cinderella Slipper of pots to find one I liked best, and at no additional charge, I found that the pot was just big enough that it didn't quite fit any of them as well. So Tess repriced the plant to exclude the pot, and adjusted the price, which allowed me the budget to buy a pot I loved for my other plant.
I swear, she was so happy to help me, I became overwhelmed and TEARED up right there in the pot aisle! Just the kindness I received, it truly made my day, a different day than it started. Jennifer also assisted me with questions I had about watering a specific plant, and tips and tricks for how to keep them alive i.e. the "chop stick" test, and she kindly repotted a plant for me as well.
The manager Brian was also incredibly kind, and the two cashiers I interacted with while I was there as well. Tess even offered for me to reach out if my plant started looking poorly and I needed help, I could email a picture over and get some advice! All in all, I can't express how incredible this was. Everyone there seems to absolutely love their job, and it truly shows.
This place is a gem and is worth the time, money, and effort to bypass any ole other gardening store where the service is in my experience, sub par. It was quite a delight, and second to none service. I felt like Pretty Woman when she goes into the RIGHT store. Go to the RIGHT store you guys! Thanks B.B. Barns!

We moved to Asheville in March 2021 and closed on our home on March 11 2021. With a brand new home on.4 acres of land completely undeveloped and woodland we had a ton of hard scaping and planting to do! BB Barnes has been our go to gardening center! The staff is awesome, they are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. We are from CA and knew very little about native NC plants.
The BB Barnes staff were so friendly and helpful! Every trip was a learning experience. We chose trees and shrubs we never would have thought of or even known about had it not been for their advice. Where to plant what, full sun, partial sun, wet feet, etc. they covered it all. Overall a great place with an incredible variety of just about everything, trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, veggies, herbs, indoor plants, soils, amendments, tools, gift shop items, etc. And almost always in stock! By the way Tuesdays, seniors (over 60) get 10% off. And they even let us take our little 18 lb pup in with us .

I've purchased some nice plants here and the staff are always pleasant, but I am pretty disappointed in the greenhouse practices, which have caused me a lot of headache. I bought a $2 quad of discounted black pansies over the summer, which I later realized were infested with aphids and whiteflies, and it spread to some of my other plants indoors - none of which had ever had those pests.
I should have inspected/quarantined/treated, but I thought they were safe since BBs is a dedicated nursery. What prompted this review is that yesterday I saw a sign for a plant *indoors* with a 'minor mealybug issue'. Selling plants with crispy leaves is different than knowingly selling plants with pests, or placing them next to other unmarked plants.
I didn't want to leave a 'bad' review, as I know how frustrating inaccurate or resolved reviews can be as a business owner, but the staff did not even flinch when I brought the topic up - just BAU. Be careful before bringing plants home, same as the big box stores.

Todd and the BB Barns crew did an amazing job with the landscaping project at my business. We run a busy catering company and wanted to improve our curb appeal. Todd worked with me to design the most lovely planter boxes - he handled everything, from ordering to installation. He listened to my desires and chose items that would give me the most longevity with minimal upkeep. We couldn't be happier with the process or the final product!

My husband and I visited because we wanted guidance about smaller bushes we could plant because he had removed overly large bushes that had grown to block our windows. The B. B. Barnes employee was friendly and knowledgeable. She spent an unhurried twenty minutes showing us various shrubbery options. She answered our questions in detail regarding how each plant should be cared for, how large each would grow, and under what conditions each variety would thrive.
We never got the impression that she was trying to push more expensive options. My husband and I were impressed by her knowledge and excellent customer service. We will definitely be back when planting time arrives.
