I live on State Line, adjacent to KU property that is an unused parking lot between 36th and 37th street. "Next To Nature's" crew was assembled en masse this morning so I went to inform them that the very last hold out of a formerly flourishing ground hog community was in one hole on the property. The young man walked with me, saw the hole and told me he had wondered if that was a rabbit hole.
I said, "Nope. Groundhogs. Would you please tell your boss to leave the leaf cover intact in that one spot and minimize disturbance?" "Yes" Instead, they knocked down all flora and fauna over the hole. I approached the young man again. "Sorry", said he, "We called the boss and he said to clear it". Not sure if the boss, whose name was given, also instructed the supervisor of the crew to spray weeding chemicals directly down the hole for 10 seconds or not. That may have been the super's prerogative, but that is what they did next. Very disappointing and unbefitting your name.

Next to Nature transformed my yard into a wonderful outdoor living space. So happy with the changes they made and the work. I do my projects in small increments, sometimes it's hard to schedule. But once they are there it's a hundred percent! Call now for the best outdoor kitchen, landscaping ever. Quality is the name of the game!

Plants Died. They Did NOT Honor Warranty. Next to Nature did a big landscaping job for us. The estimate specifically gave us a two-year warranty on plants. Some plants died within the warranty period. We informed Next to Nature within the time limit. They promised to evaluate the problems and to replace the dead plantings. A few dead plants were replaced.
As for the others, we tried to call, sent e-mails, and a certified letter. They never responded and they never replaced the plants. We had to go to small claims court to try to get this resolved.

Trish and Chris are a husband and wife team that helped us landscape around a new pool. Most of our communication was long distance because we live in WI and purchased a snow bird home in FL. They were both great to work with, very reliable, kept me updated on everything they were doing and sent me pictures so I could see the progress. I found their prices reasonable and their attention to detail, excellent. They are good people, honest and great at what they do. I highly recommend them.

Was the subcontractor company for landscaping and irrigation system for the house we were having built. From day 1 had issues with the irrigation system leaking. They were very difficult to get ahold of and often required the general contractor to call them before they would respond. Even then they said they were not going to send soneone out because it was probably just the low sprinkler head that drains for awhile after watering.
Same "your fault not ours" described by other reviewers. This is not our first sprinkler system and we knew it was not the case. A couple weeks, and $700 water bill later they finally agreed to come out and fix the leaking sprinkler head. Fast forward 1 year later and we contacted them due to several dead plants that were supposed to be covered by a 1 year warranty.
They refuse to replace them stating that "it was a hard winter." When they are charging 2-3 times the cost of what a plant should cost you would expect them to stand by their warranty. See the previous reviews from others screwed over by this company and go elsewhere.

Show up months late with the wrong trees, flowers and two boulders we never asked for. Didn't remember the layout for the island in the parking lot or the rock boarder we wanted. Preceded to tell us angrily we were wrong and he was right. We walked the rep through everything we wanted and got something completely different. Either the rep lost what he wrote down or couldn't get what we wanted because it is late in the season.

Thank goodness I discovered YELP. I can now comment on the work that was done by this group at my house 7 years ago. There are several reasons for the low rating: 1. They sent a summer intern or someone of that experience to do my $25K + job of putting in a patio, outdoor kitchen, fireplace and pergola. This person had zero experience or at least performed as if they had none. (they had to completely disassemble the fireplace they built because of errors). 2.
They listened to my wishes (therefore 2 stars), but gave me absolutely NO advice - this resulted in having a stainless cabinet installed with my grill kitchen that collects water when it rains. 3. They also used smaller size posts on the pergola than on the rest of my deck and in the windy area we are in the pergola rocks back and forth. This also makes the sunscreen be constantly out of square for raising and lowering.
It also looks like an add-on. They claimed they couldn't get the larger posts. I should have know better than to trust this answer. They probably were "unavailable" under the estimated price they provided. 4. They paid no attention at all to drainage of rainwater on the deck they installed. The result is that it holds water and dirt rather than draining into the yard when it rains. 5.
They installed a stainless steel fireplace that I chose and it works perfectly. However, they put an iron support beam above it to lay blocks on. Result - the beam rusts, rust runs down and rust stains cover the fireplace. Strictly amateur judgement. This was a classic example of having an experienced person visit, gain trust and do the estimate; then shift to having the work done by an inexperienced aid. Most of the problems have come to light too late to invoke a guarantee, but not too late to protect others from this organization.

We bought a house a year ago that Next to Nature did the landscaping for. 6 months after we lived in this house (which was built in 2012), we started having drainage problems. Part of the issue was that this company installed drainage systems for our neighbors that dump directly into our backyard (violation of city code). They also put drainage systems that drain onto the curb (another violation of city code).
When we brought these issues to their attention, they refused to address them saying that they installed the drainage systems for the previous owners. I would not have any work done by them or recommend them to anyone.

I accidentally cut off a Next To Nature truck today and the man reacted by going around me, stopping, then getting out of his car and swinging his fist trying to hit my car on the way by. I called and informed one of the owners of this behavior and was advised that they would be keeping this employee on staff. As a young woman, I feel that this type of aggressive behavior is not acceptable. I would not recommend hiring this company, but if you do decide to, please be extremely careful as this man cannot control his temper. It was quite frightening.
