Our BHAG, a Big Hairy Audacious Goal, is to receive 40,315 'Thank Yous' by 2029 (#Thankyou). The year 2029 will mark our 40th year in business. We will be counting all client and team member responses. These Thank Yous help assure that our team members and clients are satisfied and are proof of why we are in the lawn care and pest control industry - to help care for people and their property. We've worked hard to instill a known way of life associated with the name "Blades of Green" over the course of the past few years.
No two lawns are alike. That is why the foundation of our lawn care service in Maryland and Virginia includes an initial free lawn analysis. One of our lawn care specialists will evaluate your grass, soil condition, yard use and listen to your concerns to design a customized lawn treatment plan. Our process begins with the very first call when we will discuss the details of your lawn, provide a quote, and begin to develop the details of your lawn care treatment plan.We will then visit your property to evaluate your grass, soil condition, yard use and listen to your concerns and goals to formulate our treatment application plans.
Wild violets may add a pop of color to your lawn, but they're also tough to control and can take over your turf. If you're thinking about tackling them on your own, make sure you know how to identify wild violets and other important information that will make the job easier. There are countless weeds that can invade your lawn and wreak havoc on your grass, including roughstalk bluegrass. Unlike dandelions or clover, roughstalk bluegrass isn't always easy to notice. That's why it's important to know what to look for!

BOG is a reliable company that cares about its clients. The employees are responsive, friendly, and helpful. They always arrive when they promise. I have used this company for more than 15 years. If I am not satisfied, they will return to correct my concern and not charge me for resolving the problem. My lawn looks like carpet. Services: Grass seeding, Mosquito extermination, Lawn pest control, General pest inspection, Weed control

If you are in the considering @BladesofGreen for your lawn care needs, Don't do it. They won't deliver results. After a year of budget billing, when you decide to terminate service you will get a bill for services rendered. But you will have been paying them all along. Additionally, they will waste your time with emails, phone calls, and drag on the process of cancelling your account and then they will threaten with sending you to collections. Be smarter than I was and pick a better lawn service. Don't pay for what you don't get.

Tracie, our technician, is so thorough, knowledgeable and professional. She even made a call to our property in the rain to check on an area of concern in our yard. She spent extra time explaining the issue and how she would treat it. After using a different grass company for a year and feeling disappointed, we've found a true gem with BOG. Definitely five stars!

BLADES of BROWN.This company was hired for the front and back lawns. They have a great sales team and keep the talk going while they keep taking monthly payments. They got us for two years while promising to give it time. We had weeds, they made an excuse. They left our freshly power washed sidewalks a total mess after aeration. But worst of all is that after two years our lawn looks like absolute mess.
The neighbors who have the exact same grass installed by the builder, at the exact same time, used true green or did the lawn care themselves, have lawns that look spectacular. The attached photos show the horrible blades of green treated grass over two years compared to green outstanding lawns of the neighbors on the left and neighbors on the right who used trugreen, other companies, or DIY. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. Mike the service manager is very unprofessional and will take your complaints and blame you, the customer, nastily talking down to you with the reason that it looks dead is because " you have different grass than neighbors" (not true), or" you missed a treatment" or "you must sign up and commit for more treatments before we will treat".
This is AFTER Mike said that he would provide a treatment. Mike the service manager is a very poor example of having any kind of honest customer service. You'll spend lots of money and have nothing to show for it if you use this company. The photos speak for themselves: whatever is brown is the product of blades of green after 2 years. The bright green healthy lawn is my neighbors who DYI or use trugreen lawn care. No one around here uses blades of brown. Now we know why, they suck.

After using the lawn service for 10 months, we decided to cancel because of brown grass and persistent weeds. They are communicative about upcoming appointments and services provided during each visit. BUT, they do a poor job of providing straightforward pricing. They focus on the monthly payment amounts, but I couldn't find any documentation/email explaining what I was paying per year and a schedule of services.
When we canceled our service with BOG, they sent us a hefty bill for the remaining balance, which I'm having difficulty reconciling, given that we have canceled the upcoming treatments. We've happily contracted with another company that my neighbors use, and the price difference is astonishing. Our neighbors' lawns look so much better than our lawn. Perhaps we would have gotten there eventually with BOG, but it doesn't make any sense to pay almost 30 percent more for the mere possibility.

We have been very happy with the lawn care provided by Blades of Grass. We wanted our lawn to looks as nice as our neighbors so we asked who they used and it was as Blades of Grass. In particular we have been impressed with the tech they sent out, a couple of times now, Tracy. She is super knowledgeable about correcting particular issues our lawn had and she clearly has a lot of experience. She was friendly, patient, and explained everything. We appreciate the good customer service Tracy provided and are glad we started using Blades of Grass.

We have been a customer for almost 10 years. And my home is always bug free. Anytime I start seeing some ants or wasps, I call BOG and they will come out within 24-48 hours and spray. And this is what I love most about this company. You have an issue and they will respond very quickly to whatever issue you may be having. We did recently sell our home and unfortunately had to put our account on hold until we build our new house.
And you better believe I am going to call them even during the process of building to come out because I know their product works. If your looking for a great company to come and take care of your home, then BOG is the one! I promise you won't regret it! Shoutout to Donna Thomas, for always taking care of us and always being so helpful with our questions and concerns. And for Scott always coming to spray the house really good. Your work did really show!

Travis is my lawn care technician and he is the best! He takes his time to evaluate and treat my lawn every time and has an eye for detail. He will put in a proactive service call for me if I have stubborn weeds so that he can come back out at a later time and retreat them. We started the lawn care program in September with almost ALL weeds and in just a few short months the change has been incredible. Thank you Travis and Blades of Green!

Blades of Green as been providing lawn service to our wedding venue, The Barn at Pleasant Acres, for 5 years. They have done a fantastic job. This year the lawn was greener than ever for all of our clients for their wedding ceremonies. Thank you to Adrian Montalvo who has made sure the team takes care to make sure our front lawn is ready for every couple who gets married with us! We never have to worry that our lawn is being treated and will be ready

I just wanted to let you know how much our technician, Heather, was appreciated today! She went above and beyond to rescue our family from the ultimate demise of a Golden Silk Orb Weaver. It was also amazing for my two young daughters to see a female tech wrangling the spider #girlpower. We've been so impressed by our BOG pest control from the start! The customer service is amazing, and our other tech Kyle was great too! Very professional, thorough, and always right on time!

Just horrible. We have problems with bare ground in a few areas and thin grass in some areas which is why we hired them and these areas were not even addressed in their "treatment ". What we paid for was not even done and we had to bring it up to them that we paid for the highest package and none of the things were done in the package. They didn't even perform I believe the lowest package they offer when we are paying for the highest one they offer.
They literally just ran the machines in the center of the yard when it was too wet, Matting and compacting down the ground and destroying perfectly fine areas. We called them about it being too wet the day they were supposed to come and they still did it and damaged our lawn and property. They came back out again and it's still not done and more damage.
Now our lawn Has issues in areas it didn't before and the areas that had issues as I mentioned they did nothing about. It is thatch filled muddy mess from their equipment and sloppy work. Completely unacceptable we already called management who came out looked at it and said it would be fixed and addressed. When the crew came out they Had no knowledge of why they were there and what to fix, the blonde one gave us attitude and told me that this is how aeration looks, I'm not an idiot so don't make excuses for sloppy work and not even doing the job you're being paid to do.
Now we are stuck with a big mess going into the winter. This is completely unacceptable. We also were told by manager on October 21 that on 22nd they could come out to redo it all and actually do the full service and what we are paying for. That didn't happen when they came back out. Different manager came back out today and the new damage to ground he claims isn't from it being to wet when they aerated with their machines, they say it's the casualty of aerating and other lawns get much worse. Are you kidding me?
All the new damage is not from proper aerating it's from doing it when the ground was wet which we told them before they came and when they were own property., Other companies have aerated before and never destroyed the healthy areas like this at all. So our service isn't done, it won't be done this season because it's to late in the season, so we have to wait until spring now.
You Took no urgency in fixing the problem and there has been nothing but miscommunication among your workers and employees and then today I am told this damage is normal. Completely unacceptable. Furthermore the only thing the guy is going to do is fix the berm they destroyed (mind you they don't provide that service so what pros will be doing that)?
On top of that we have to get our own sod laid this late in the year just so that it's not a muddy mess this is ridiculous. This is unacceptable and ridiculous. The Pictures below are a few examples, I have this very well documented from before during and after and up until now. To make it worse the manager today couldn't even acknowledge the fact that our service was never provided or apologize for the mess and headache they have created or give any actual solution.
He just made excuses which immediately infuriated me and seems to be what this company does. One manager says it would be fixed, crew came out and had no idea why they were there and it wasn't fixed they just created more damage to fine areas. They lolly gagged for three weeks and now we are in a bad muddy sloppy situation Honestly can't even be addressed until next season.
I am not dealing with land erosion and this muddy mess I have a new problem areas and the old ones as I mentioned are not addressed or if they are not in any manner that's acceptable.

What an awful experience! Do not sign up with Blades of Green. I live in Edgewater, MD and learned that many of my neighbors have had the same experience and elected to cancel after the same routine things happened. Too many excuses to cover: It's MY Fault' for not calling them sooner, there is something wrong with the climate, you need to give it more time, the operations team is really busy, we only do treatments every 6 - 8 weeks.
After speaking with the office manager this morning, I had to explain to her that her 'sales tactics' are exactly what I'm reading in the previous Yelp Reviews. I then explained that for nearly $2,250 per year, I could do a much better job for a fraction of the cost. Actually, when I did manage it myself, I had marginally better results. Lastly, I've talked to several of my neighbors and they have had very similar experiences.
I explained to office manager that I will share my displeasure with my neighbors (250 home neighborhood) to they don't get scammed. Good opinions travels fast, poor opinions travel at light speed. So glad I'm cancelling today. It's a relief that I don't have to call again to feel bad for asking for a service that I've been promised and paying a hefty cost to.

Just now This is a cautionary tale of my experience. Unfortunately when my problems started with BOG and their lawn care.treatments a couple of years ago I should've know better than to keep them on. At the time they however seemed sincere in their concern to address the issues which largely have to do with the treatments they apply. I get the impression that BOG has become nothing more than a glorified weed killing company who it seems is only interested in selling me as many services as possible.
I was spending over $1700 per year for just about every treatment under the sun. A year or so ago, they blamed poor turf management practices on disease only to sell me a $600+ disease/fungus control service. Then after stressing and killing my grass yet again in August 2020, by blanket treating my weedless lawn with a weed killer in the middle of the summer heat, they tried to blame the burn and die back throughout my lawn on fungus.
This was a lawn that was near perfect just 2 weeks prior to the application - see before and after pictures. - Never mind I am paying them $600+ per year for fungus/disease control! After consulting with two other turf management experts to evaluate the condition of my lawn, they were mystified as to why BOG would have applied such a treatment to an otherwise healthy lawn, let alone during 90 degree temperatures in August when the fescue was already heat stressed. Acknowledging the grass was clearly stressed from the treatment which likely contributed to making it more susceptible to disease.
Despite having pointed out 2 years ago that these summer blanket weed applications were killing my lawn and requesting they do not apply it to my lawn anymore, they continued to do so, not once this summer, killing my grass in the process again, but they inexplicably after bringing this latest incident to their attention, they applied it a second time in September 2020! BOG had nothing but excuses when I questioned them as to why they applied weed killer across my entire lawn that had no weeds, burning out my lawn in places and causing die back most everywhere else.
The first excuse was - there are reports of a lot weeds in the area. The second excuse was - they were following a treatment program from University of MD, their third excuse was blaming the almost overnight decline of my lawn on fungus. I spent A LOT of money renovating my backyard in 2019 only to watch it be destroyed almost overnight in August.
I was furious but yet again i gave BOG another opportunity; that is until they showed up to spray my lawn again in Sept with the same product. I have had enough of the generic preprescribed lawn care regimen, the resulting damage and excuses so I am moving on to another turf management company that can fix the damage and provide a more individualized turf management program and will make proactive adjustments to the course or treatment based on what my lawn really needs.

I contacted blades of green and they offered a few of their plans. Told me you can downgrade or upgrade your plan at anytime. Since it was a little late in the spring I wasn't expecting much but after the first treatment the amounts of weeds declined drastically. More grass has grown in and the lawn is looking much better as it was all weeds at the start of spring.
They responded fast after contacting them and also followed up after the treatment if I had an questions or concerns. I have a few bare spots I want to get grass growing in so I'll look forward to that when the seed in the fall and see how it turns out in the spring.

The BOG experience started off very well with greener grass and healthier lawn. I then added shrub service to my account. The shrubs were healthy and green. Then one year (2019) the tech sprayed the wrong chemical on my shrubs and they began to turn brown and die. In addition, the tech sprayed chemical towards the house which left a stain on the dryvit/stucco exterior.
The techs came back and cut all of the damage from the shrubs and the company paid to have someone clean the exterior. All could have been avoided if the techs paid attention. The shrubs are still damaged and have had to be removed. Be careful and follow up with the company when you notice something is wrong or damaged. They do expect you to point out their errors.

This company damaged my fence and refuses to pay for the damage. The two owners are completely unresponsive and the staff under them is seemingly incompetent. It is very disappointing as they promised for months to make this right. The owners refuse to return calls or emails. The staff, including Krista, seem to think they are just too important to be bothered with returning customer calls. I have already filed a law suit.

Updating my review: After about 3-5 weeks of back and forth and waiting my estimate, we finally got in touch and settled on a treatment package that included aeration and seeding. A small area was missed, so they came back out to address it within a week. It appears to be working already as grass is starting to sprout up in the bare spots. I think this is a good company to use, but don't wait till the last minute to call them and risk missing the best timing for your treatment.

I wanted to let someone know how amazing this technician Thomas was. He went above and beyond and started my Friday off right. I came out of my house to leave for work and as usual if BOG guys are there, they stop so I can get in my car and down the road. This time I noticed something I hadnt noticed before. He had taken all of my trash cans up the drive way and put on the side of house where they usually would go.
It was something so simple but put I smile on my face. I am in the hospitality industry and this is something we tell our teammates to do "Above and Beyond" I just wanted to pass this along and I will be telling everyone I know about this company. Thank you Thomas for going the extra mile!

This company is great! Prompt, courteous, and communicate everything quickly. I got 2 calls and an email about their visit today. I get mosquito/tick treatments which have really helped keep those pests in check. And then I had an aunt problem underneath my front stoop. I tried everything. Homemade borax solutions, Terro liquid and granular, And everything I could get my hands on for two years. Blades Of GREEN came out And after the first treatment I noticed a significant reduction in their numbers. Then they popped up in another area so BOG did another treatment. They've done three now and it's looking really good. I highly recommend them.

These guys are amazing! I called them today and they were able to fit me into their schedule two business days form now. A client of mine referred me to them and so far they have been great! They are coming out to give me an inspection for Terminites and a yearly plan. I'll update after they come on Monday but their reviews online on Facebook and Google is what drew me in to them. Thank you, Deej

I have been doing my own lawn for years, with store bought chemical products and weed killers. Blades of Green uses Earth friendly products, and the results of a Pro are far better than than what I have been doing for years. I noticed a significant difference after the first application. You may pay a little more, but it's worth it. They were able to give me an estimate by looking at a satellite view of my yard, and even tell me that they saw zoysia grass in spots, which was true. I wish I had discovered Blades of Green years ago. They are very professional and informative. My yard looks terrific!

What's not to love about Blades of Green! When I first called them a couple of years ago, my backyard was basically non-existent. They came by to do an assessment and explained everything I'd need to get my yard in shape. Within one year, my yard looked fantastic and they did it thhile using earth friendly products! The folks who work for this company are extremely professional, thorough and friendly.
When they come out, they let me know exactly what they will be doing and they ask me if I have any areas of concern in my yard. If I do, they will check and treat that area. The customer service is excellent as well. I am so pleased with Blades of Green - they are much, much better than my previous service.
