We started growing trees in 1988 and added our garden center in 1999. Our MNLA certified staff is committed to personal service, continuous improvement, and fostering a sense of community through our passion for plants.

Knecht's is a full-service garden center and landscaping operation based in Northfield since 1988.

Location Report

We are located at 1601 Hwy 19 West in Northfield, MN, just across from the entrance to St. Olaf College. From the intersection of I-35 and Hwy 19, we are located east 5.2 miles (8.3 km), right inside the city limits of Northfield.

Employment Report

Knecht's Nurseries & Landscaping is hiring and we're looking for people who have a passion for plants, gardening, & landscaping! We have seasonal full-time and part-time positions available in retail, production, and landscape crew. Pay is commensurate with experience. Full-time positions include retirement benefits and vacation time after one year.

Our garden center is 10 acres of plant heaven located just inside the Northfield city limits on State Hwy 19. We invite you to stop in and discover the Knecht's difference. You'll be amazed. Nice clean nursery with plenty of choices. Their plants and trees are in excellent condition and they have friendly and knowledgeable staff. Their prices are slightly higher then some other nurseries but the quality of their products and their staff provides and excellent value!

Knecht's Nursery had a fair selection of native plants and a good selection of various evergreens. Since those were the plants I was seeking, I didn't look at anything else. They had knowledgeable and helpful staff. Prices were lower than in the Metro.

I bought three trees here over the past several years with relative success. They give good instructions about planting and initial care. While most of the folks I have been helped by were nice - one had pretty terrible customer service skills - they also have been a bit overzealous about being able to fit the trees in my vehicle.
