Working with Jim and his team was as smooth as you could ask for. From the beginning he was very timely and professional with communication and expectations. Once the project started we felt like we had all their attention- which was very impressive considering how busy landscapers have been this year. They were very flexible when it came time to make adjustments here and there or change plans up a bit.
It would be easy to up-charge or delay a project when the customer starts changing things. I always appreciated his understanding and commitment to doing it out our way (of course giving their professional feedback and advice when needed). Affordable, quality work, and was done as scheduled. Would highly recommend to anyone!

My apologies, however I am not the most punctual when it comes to online reviews. We moved into our home last summer and call Jim to help us with our desire to have a patio in our backyard. Not only did we get our patio completed in August 2019, Jim helped us with the edging around the house and some updating of the landscape package that came with our home. Honest, Reliable, Quality, Trustworthy are words that come to mind when I think of Jim and the team and Distinctive Landscapes Inc.

Jim, his staff and Distinctive Landscape were PERFECT for our complete landscape project! From the very beginning Jim was professional, reliable, honest, trustworthy and MORE! The quality of product was awesome! From the super clean river rock, great colored decor blocks and BEAUTIFUL rich green sod - I was very impressed! Timing and quality of work was great!

Very Positive experience with Distinctive Landscapes over many years with landscape plantings and recently they completed a beautiful paver sidewalk. Back patio done 13 years ago by them and we were so pleased we decided to have them do the front walkway. Many compliments from visitors! Great hard working crew, efficient and always a clean-up when finished for the day!

Unsafe vehicle operation. At 0756 hours on October 31 2018, a one of this company's trucks and trailer, laden with equipment ran the red light, northbound Cedar Ave at 179ths W. The vehicle entered the intersection on a red light, while I had a green left turn arrow to go east on 179ths St W. The vehicle in the lane next to the company vehicle stopped, as did all other vehicles traveling north at the time. If they drive like this, can you image how they operate around your home.

Distinctive Landscapes did an amazing job, we were so impressed by the whole process and the finished project. Their bid came back right on budget, and less than other bids (I think we were getting high bids because we were contacting people right at the start of spring). We needed them to remove an old sunken patio and retaining wall, fix drainage issues, regrade the land, remove some trees/shrubs and install a new 375 sq foot paver patio. Needless to say it was a lot of work.
The crew showed up one morning to tear out the plants the week prior to the work starting. It didn't take them long at all and after they were done they swept/raked so you couldn't even tell they were there, even though the following week they were starting demolition. We were extremely impressed with how respectful and clean the crew was. The following week they showed up bright and early Monday morning to start work.
There were 6 people in his crew and they worked very fast and efficiently. And - a HUGE bonus for us - they used wheel barrows to do all of the hauling on the grass. We have a sprinkler system and every other contractor we talked to said that there would be lawn damage for sure and possibly sprinkler damage as well. Bob was the only contractor who used wheel barrows.
He still had a bobcat, but it was only ever in the driveway and never went on the grass. Which meant we had absolutely no grass or sprinkler damage when he was done. It took his crew 2 days to do the entire job. They were able to complete the demolition and put in the entire base in 1 day, and again when they left they swept up in our driveway and used a leaf blower to make sure there was no debris anywhere, even though they were returning the next day.
And in our berm they ended up removing soil where we had a hosta planted, Bob made sure to save the hosta and replanted it somewhere else in the berm upon asking me where I wanted it. This is a great example of their attention to detail and respect for our property. Due to weather, they weren't able to install the patio until Wednesday. Again they were there bright and early and ended up staying late to get it all finished. Bob was there the entire time, he's a very hard worker.
We were extremely pleased with the end product, it's a beautiful patio that I expect will last forever with the amount of base underneath it! I highly recommend them!
