Our story began on the internet, where we met in mid 1997. Our friendship developed over the next year and grew into a romance in late 1998. The following year, Andy immigrated to the US from Birmingham England. We were immediately married, pooled our resources, and began the process of building a home and business together in Surry. As the nursery grew, we received many requests for landscaping, and so another side to our business developed. The English Connection nursery and landscape business is owned and operated by Suzanne & Andy Warner.
Services
If you are looking for a specific specimen, or quantities of certain plants, we will attempt to get them for you. We buy from local growers and can have special orders within a few days if available. 1 Gal Liriope $3.00 - 1 gal Hosta & Daylily $6.00 - Ice plants (20 varieties) $3.00 are a few examples of our pricing.
Here are some of our water feature projects, most of them in Williamsburg - Ford's Colony, Queens Lake, Powhatan Secondary & Toano. Compost is installed to create a sloped, rockery area for planting around the waterfall mound. Here, the process of arranging the fieldstone to present a very natural appearance is started.
This walkway in Ford's Colony is part of the patio in the next image, and crosses over the stream connectiong a pond and waterfall. This large patio in Surry county, which has a built-in firepit, connects to a large water feature with ponds & waterfalls. This terraced walkway leads from the patio in the previous image, to the existing upper patio.
Our stone work is always a custom creation by Andrew Warner; we do not send out a crew for installation. These pillars and low wall in Ford's Colony were built to define the entrance to the rear garden area. This wall in Holly Ridge, combined with a rock garden retains the terracing we created into a sloping front yard. This wall in Ford's Colony solves erosion problems due to lot slope, and also adds aesthetic qualities.

Excellent, beautifully laid out. for koi pond lovers a wonderful selection. The owners are absolutely the best, spent a lot time explaining and recommending plants based on our objective. We have made this nursery our prime shopping center for plants. Prices are remarkable, Bill and Lori, Richmond, Va.

The owners are two of the nicest people. Their plants are top quality, and prices are excellent. I am hoping my review is showing five stars - somehow it originally had two and that was NOT meant, because if I could I'd give them TEN stars! I hope I was able to correctly edit it. You've GOT to go there - the plants they have are mostly cultivated by Andy and Suzanne - and are of the best stock we've used in our gardens. And at such reasonable prices, too! Plus, their gardens/ponds are worth going just to see! So, GO! You won't regret it!
