I hired Susan after looking at some of her work online to assist me with my home's front yard landscape. My house had a number of overgrown bushes that I had ripped out, so it was a blank slate. As I began working on my design I realized I needed some help. I live in an area with lots of deer and needed assistance selecting deer resistant plants, in addition to the design.

As part of the process I emailed Susan photos of my homes fascade, reviewed my ideas ( I had drafted a simple design on graph paper ), shared some of the photos I had saved for inspiration, and discussed the type of plants I liked. Susan came up with a design beyond what I could have come up on my own. Once I started the installation of the plants there were a couple of plants that were hard to find due to limited supplies due to Covid 19, and Susan was able to promptly provide alternatives.

I found Susan very responsive ( she did the design for me remotely ), easy to work with, and I was very satisfied with her landscape design services. If you are looking to take your yard/ garden to the next level I would definitely recommend her.

Last year we used Susan to create new landscaping design for our front yard. After visiting our house 2-3 times to get all measurements, etc., Susan presented a detailed up to scale design with a list of all plants. The design included stone walkway, front steps and lighting. During implementation process Susan was always ready and available to answer all questions and suggested plant replacement when original was not readily available.

The end product was spectacular and all neighbors and friends love it. Now we using Susan expertise to create landscaping design for part of our back yard. We are sure it will have same result.

Susan Schlenger Landscape Design - Susan designed plantings for a small area on the side of my house that is just delightful. It seems every week there is a surprise with another burst of color.

No mulch needed, she used natural plant ground cover. I've just asked Susan now to help me with designs for the front of my house. Susan is a dedicated professional with an elegant eye and I cannot wait to work with her again and see what lovely ideas she will present to me.

My husband and I recently hired Susan to help us with a landscape design for our backyard. We had seen her work online and loved the idea of having someone create a design for us, right down to pictures of the exact plants we should use. I am a very visual person and was having trouble envisioning what our yard could look like. We went from basic to WOW with Susan's assistance. She is a pleasure to deal with-knowledgeable, attentive, and professional. We would not hesitate to recommend her services.

Awful! Incredibly disappointed! I spent tens of hours taking pictures and video inside and out of my home so Susan could understand what we wanted and needed in our yard. I had Pinterest and houzz pages to show examples of landscapes and privacy screening that I liked. I wrote out a list of plants that I really enjoyed and plants that I can't stand. Susan said she understood completely what my husband and I wanted and she could deliver. Well, it was a HUGE FAIL! Susan designed a yard that she liked.

She didn't take into consideration the plants that I liked (except 1) and she didn't create any privacy screening like we had asked. The entire yard was perennials with a few deciduous trees. There was nothing evergreen. HUGE viburnum everywhere. The yard would look like a jungle if I used even 1/2 of the plants she suggested. She failed to take into consideration where the sun would be and had herbaceous peonies planted in full shade.

She had a row of hostas with liriope as the front bed plantings for my very large 2 story house in a neighborhood with deer and bunnies. She ignored several areas of the yard, one which is a pretty key focal point from our deck. It's as if she had put in her time and thus stopped 2/3 of the way through the design. Style/feel of the various beds were not cohesive.

We talked through revisions and even after being very specific with things, she ignored them. It's as if we hadn't spoken. She lacks creativity and depth as a designer. She asks for a professional fee but is very unprofessional and was actually rude to me. I now have to incur a delay in our landscape install and additional costs and time to hire a professional landscape architect.

This is the 5th yard that I have completely redone but the 1st landscape architect that couldn't deliver, couldn't come up with alternate selections, couldn't properly plan out the space, and couldn't create the feel that we wanted. She did however manage to charge a very hefty hourly rate, make the process completely unfun, and not deliver a design that will work in our space.

I bought a house and hired Susan in 2017 to design a plan for my front and back yard, which were nothing but dirt and sorry looking grass. We had an in-person meeting during which she measured everything and noted the amount of sun and shade in all areas. We talked about what would be best for me to maintain and what I liked most in terms of plantings.

We then corresponded by phone and email and she sent me a highly-detailed landscape plan for my landscaper to follow, a company she recommended and who did a phenomenal job of landscaping and hardscaping according to Susan's plans. She continued to communicate throughout the process with me and the landscaper to ensure all was done according to plan and that I was happy with everything.

I found Susan to be professional, flexible and knowledgeable and am thrilled with how everything looks. I get numerous compliments on my yard from friends, colleagues and neighbors! I would hire Susan again if I needed a landscape design and have recommended her to others.

We used Susan's services twice in the last 5 years. She produced highly detailed properly scaled drawings which made a whole process of massive landscape undertaking much easier. After listening she developed plans to fit our vision and style that was out of the box. Recommend highly
