Sedge Garden Nursery was begun in 1978 by Michael Garner. Mike worked at Ciba-Geigy in the agricultural division for few years. Following a life long desire to own a farm which was not economically possible at the time he decided to change careers and pursue the landscape market. One year into the venture, he teamed up with a partner.

I miss this place. Before it closed to the public, Sedge Garden Nursery was a longtime member of the community, and had a great selection of plants, shrubs and flowers. Everything we've gotten from there (except for the witch hazel that I accidentally stepped on, and 2 azaleas that died after their first winter was too harsh) has flourished, most especially our ginkgo, ram's horn willow, Japanese maples and okame cherry tree.
And we still have 6 of the 8 azaleas we got from here. They guaranteed whatever they planted for one year, but we only had them plant one thing. Everything else, Earl and I planted ourselves, and hey, it still worked out. (Obviously if you plant something and don't do what you're supposed to do, it's not guaranteed; this isn't a big box store.) My only beef with this place is because they were understaffed, they hardly ever picked up the phone, and they didn't even really notify customers that they were closing the nursery to the public. It's still unclear to me if they do landscaping, lawn maintenance, or if they pick up their phone now.

I have bought plants from said Garden nursery in the past with very excellent experiences however I recently bought some butterfly bushes from them. When I bought them they look dead but the lady there assured me that they weren't dead but they were dormant and that they would pop back up. I've been watering them every day and have not seen any improvement when I called to ask the lady that helped me answered the phone.
I told her about the issue and she told me it was my fault for not watering them correct correctly and they don't replace plants. I will never shop at sedge garden nursery again or recommend them and as a matter of fact I will deter people from using them in the future.
