Kings County Nurseries first opened its doors in 1955, in a predominately Italian immigrant neighborhood. It all started with three brothers and their love for gardening. That love turned into a neighborhood foundation that has been family owned and operated for over 65 years. The Merola brothers were committed to the beautification of Brooklyn. Their dedication stemmed from requests that led to customer satisfaction throughout the decades. Their hard work and passion for the business is what solidified future generations to carry on the Kings County reputation.

My first time visiting and I was not disappointed. I honestly walked quite a ways to get there during that day, it was a warm and nice walk. I got to the nursery in early spring April 2nd. So the stocks was not filled as I was told by one staff. I look forward to coming back seeing it and potentially getting more. I collected four plants in total. 2 Juniper Procumbens "nana" for Bonsai projects, one chlorophytum comosum (spider plant) and one Philodendron hederaceum 'Brazil' plant was in their greenhouse, and the staff was surprised I knew the names. :) I'm super interested in learning more about horticulture and plant biology.
The spider plant I immediately put in the sunlit window and it won't stop growing babies, which is what I want frankly. :) I propagated the philodendron yet more shoots are growing! This is also something I'm glad for. :) At any rate the price was a bit much but I am happy with their growth and the tips I have recieved is helping a lot. I desire to grow more plants indoors and some outdoors.
So for what it's worth the Procumbens were worth it. The Procumbens are thriving and I cut back some parts of it to see the trunk and I like how strange one them is. I want to be able to build on these and grow my collection. I shared photos of the plants. Thank you staff of kings County Nurseries. Hope to visit again and see what other plants you have.

I stopped by today after hearing so many positive things about this place. I just moved to the neighborhood and let me tell you, I was definitely not disappointed. Loved that It was family owned. I went to pick out some houseplants and even though they don't have all their plants out yet because of the weather, there was still plenty to choose from. Chrissy was able to help me pick a couple that worked best for my apartment and I love them! She even took the time to talk me through the care for all of them. I can't wait to go back once the greenhouse is filled up!

One of the best nursery not just in Brooklyn but the whole New York City! They have a wide collection of both indoor and outdoor plants/herbs/landscaping. While, I have never tried it but I think they do curbside delivery as well. They have an Instagram account that informs you of all the new arrivals, so if you are waiting for a perticular plant it is really helpful.
Most importantly, We have never had an unhealthy or bug laden plant from here! They are a family business and very pleasant to talk to. Knowledgeable in plant care. We are glad to have them in our neighborhood!
