Once moisture has penetrates the seed coat, germination begins and the seed begins to grow. If the seed dries out to a certain point, the areas will die and have to be re-seeded. Water newly seeded areas very heavily at first. Completely saturate the new loam. It may take 2 or 3 hours, and sometimes more per section.
2. If the subsoil is sandy 1 to 2 inches of clay should be spread over the area before you spread the loam. 14. Second fertilization 4 weeks after planting with regular lawn fertilizer, If lawn was planted in the spring. Lawns planted after mid June should not be fertilized again until the first of September.
After a storm large trees may have split branches. Making the proper pruning cuts is critical to safety of the person pruning and for the long term healing for the tree. Successful pruning requires that all cuts be made in a way that allows the plant to close off the wounds and resume healthy growth.
Newly planted roses about once a week. Try to water the roots without hitting the foliage. If not possible, try to water early in the morning giving the sun enough time to get the water off the foliage by mid day. Make sure when you do water, you water deeply. Some methods of watering can take up to an hour (watering methods can be found in watering instructions, in the gardening information tab).

Abby was a great help and went the extra mile helping me get the sod i needed for my lake house. She checked back with me when the first sod was available for the season and did not blink when i kept changing my pickup date/time. She even got me loaded in record time when i finally did come for pickup with just a couple hours notice (the final date/time change). So thank you Abby. Great customer service!

I am renovating a house and have a lot of plants, shrubs and trees to buy. I was thrilled to see the selection at a locally owned business. On my first trip - a Saturday about an hour from closing, I bought $440 worth of plants. When I got home, i noticed that one azalea of the 3 I bought was not in good shape. The leaves were facing down and many leaves were spotty.
After a few days of rain, the other azaleas looked beautiful but one was still not faring we'll. 6 days later, I went back to buy more plants and decided to exchange the failing azalea. Gammon would not exchange it because I had the azalea for more than 72 hours. I explained that I was here to buy another $300 of plants I simply wanted a different azalea.
The young man in the office told me that I could take my $300 and walk! They have lost someone who would have been a great customer. It is so disappointing that a local business owner has such poor customer service because I prefer local small businesses to the big box stores. Gammon has left me no choice but to go to Home Depot and Lowe's. In the spring, I will head to Landscape World in Lisbon Street in Lewiston. (They are closed for the season now.)
