Painting "live" landscapes and creating breathtaking outdoor spaces is the specialty of designer A.J. Benys, award-winning horticulturist-artist. The hybrid designer studied horticulture at Sam Houston State University and went on to earn his second degree in landscape architecture from Texas A&M; this cross pollination has proven to be an amazing formula for success.
There is a $125 irrigation audit fee if you live within the Greater Houston area. If you live outside the Greater Houston area the irrigation audit fee will depend on your location. After evaluation of the entire system a price will be given prior to installation for approval by the homeowner. One of our licensed architects will work one on one with you throughout the design process, construction, and landscape installation.

I was a Account manager for Aj's landscaping. AJ and I agreed on an amount that I would be paid yearly. Well come to find out I was not receiving what I was promised. I was told that I'd be forced to quit and my colleague made everyday stressful and unbearable to even be at work everyday. I was cussed out and talked to very poorly every day. I do not recommend doing business with or working for this crooked company.

We wanted to do a partial renovation of our small backyard space and after seeing what they did for our neighbor, I called AJ's. Jared came out, looked at our space, and to help be cost effective, took the time to ask what I liked and didn't like about what we had. He worked with my comments and came up with a beautiful design that transformed our small space into a beautiful, peaceful garden oasis! I am so pleased with the design as well as his selection of plants that worked perfectly with the existing greenery we wanted to keep.

I have to say that my experience with AJ's Landscaping was nothing but great! I met with a young landscape architect about a year ago. I had interviewed other landscape companies but felt most comfortable with him. Instead of just spurting out ideas, he listened to what I was wanting to get accomplished. In the past when I had design work done, It was almost as if they did not listed to a word I had to say.
A couple of weeks later we met to review his ideas, and was completely blown away by the design and professionalism. I signed a contract shortly after and watched their team transform our yard. The entire staff was friendly at every step and at every level. I have and will continue to use them.

Hired them for our pool and landscape. Excellent design and support! After two years of installation, our pool circuit is acting up. Called AJ Friday and they sent someone out fixed it the very next Monday! Now that's customer service and how they guarantee their workmanship! I am impressed not only by their design but most of all how they value their customers and help them even after the project. Will definately hire them again for any of our future projects!

I engaged AJ's Landscaping & Design, Inc. to completely renovate the outside of my home (front, side, and back). It was a very big job so took some time to complete, but at the end of the day I think the outside of my home is absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite features is the A/C Screen that AJ's designed. The previous screen was made from wood.
It could be removed in order to service my three A/C units, but that involved removing screws and some heavy lifting. So the A/C technicians used to just squeeze in behind the wood screen when they came to service the units. AJ's replaced the wood screen with one made of light steel designed by the AJ's team and manufactured and installed by Rolando and his crew.
The black steel screen matches a lot of the other features in the yard. And the design includes gates that easily swing open to allow access to each of the three A/C units. Last week I had my A/C units serviced and the technician was very pleased with the ease with which he could access the units. In addition, AJ's had thought to install a hose bib just beside the units, which the technician also found very useful for washing out the inside of the A/C housings.
I include below three pictures of the A/C screen: one where all the gates are closed, one of the small gate that can be opened to access the irrigation and electrical controls, and one where all the gates are open. If you are looking for an awesome landscape design, or for a beautiful and functional A/C screen, I recommend calling AJ's.

I am very disappointed with our brief experience with AJs Landscaping & Design. I caution everyone from using this outfit unless your budget is quite significant and don't mind overpaying for the scope! The Pros (and only reason we did not give it a 1 star rating): their design idea for our backyard was really nice! On paper it looked amazing, but please go to Cons! Cons: AJs was the only company (out of 4 bidders) that requested a deposit to develop a design and cost proposal.
As they were the first ones we contacted we gave in and paid the despots. Aj is a smooth talker and had us convinced!. With the impressions that they would be reasonable on the pricing of our wants, we paid this deposit! After paying the deposit, we waited nearly a month before getting a preview of our design and proposal. The PROPOSAL WAS $50k for very simple additions; we nearly fell off our seats!
After requesting some changes to reach near a reasonable budget, they came down to $28k; this would have been a major sacrifice on our wants! And still over our budget! After going out for bids, we saw that hard scalping quote (Patio extension, kitchen, fire place) was near 40% greater then the competition. Their landscaping was nearly double the cost of the competition and the trees they were offering were also much smaller (30 gallon vs 60!).
After discussing the large price gaps with AJs peoples, there response was that the deposit was none refundable. Please note this was $800, for a sketch that would take about 1-2 hrs and a bid that would be about the same, the sketch was a plan view, nothing special like a 3D rendering! This in my opinion is the cost of doing business, and not to the client.
We feel taken advantage off, and refuse to use a contractor/design company that gouges their clients. Unless you have a ton of money your ok with spending, I don't recommend this group. Will give out business to a different contractor!

My contract with AJ's stipulated that they were to perform 42 yard services a year. Beginning in March of every year, the service would be weekly. By mid June, we had identified 9 instances when we believed that AJ's did not show up to perform contractually required services. We save the maintenance sheets they provide and there were 9 days missing.
We were at home some of these days and know that they did not come by. AJ's failed to provide evidence of this service even when asked on numerous occasions. This request was made to their general maintenance e-mail, to T Polk and to Javier. After sending an initial e-mail expressing concern on this issue, we did not receive a response to the e-mail.
When we followed up with a phone call three days later, we were told that no one had read our e-mail yet. The failure to perform services or to provide evidence that they did is the most serious issue. We have filed a complaint with the BBB on this matter. However, over the course of our relationship we were also disappointed in other things. The contract also requires periodic fertilization. AJ's never provided evidence of doing this service even when asked about it.
After some plants died during the winter frost, they did not offer to replace them or note this on the maintenance sheets we do have. The same things happened with a plant infestation: this was never mentioned in any summaries of our yard. We had to bring it to AJ's attention. There were also dead spots in our grass which they never mentioned to us and which they could not explain when we pointed them out.
In the past, we had caught their personnel urinating in our yard. There was also damage to our garage, presumably from a lawnmower. AJ's never responded to requests to discuss and resolve this issue. Finally, after cancelling the service, AJ's tried to charge us for work in subsequent months.

I had a great experience with AJ's Landscaping. Kendall came out to assess the property in a professional and timely manner and gave an accurate quote compared to the final price that I received. Before we began the project, I sent him an email with several questions and concerns. He promptly responded to all of my questions that same day! I was very pleasure with the final project and the customer service I received! Will definitely be doing business with AJ's again!

We have been customers for several years. With only the rare exception AJ's quality work and reliable communication have been excellent. When issues have surfaced they have been quick to respond and address the problems. Specifically, Brandon Blair is a great customer service asset, and we are happy he is back with AJ's.
