We provide custom award-winning landscape design and architecture featuring a problem solving approach. We design unique and functional outdoor environments including hard scape elements (outdoor kitchens, outdoor dining space, water features), plantings, and lighting. Michael Glassman is an award-winning landscape designer and the owner of one of Northern California's most prestigious design firms. For more than forty years, he has designed beautiful and functional landscapes, waterworks, and creative elements that enhance outdoor living.
Michael usually starts with an initial one-hour consultation at your home. He evaluates your yard and makes simple recommendations, such as freshening up the landscape with new plants that are appropriate for the climate and conditions, and/or proposes structural changes in hardscape elements, such as walkways, patios, planters, and shade structures.
Transforming outdoor space is one of the hottest home trends today. It expands indoor square footage, makes a property more usable, keeps homeowners healthier whether they grow vegetables or swim laps. It also makes a neighborhood more aesthetically attractive. I am so disappointed in the lack of professionalism. My husband and I found Michael Glassman on houzz and loved the designs so we requested a consultation. We were informed that the consult is $150 which is very reasonable. The consult day arrived and Michael showed up with his two assistants. The first thing he did was complain that our driveway was long and difficult to walk up.
We ushered them inside and went to the backyard to show them the space. Not once during the consult did Michael ask anything about us or make any effort to get to know us. He seemed rushed and didn't seem to care about our wants, our lifestyle or what we would like out of the space. We have a very steep and difficult lot and are aware that there will be limitations to what we can achieve, but Michael seemed put off by the whole project.
We gave him our wish list and he tried to convince us that nothing on the list could be done and we would be crazy to pay for any of it. He was extremely loud and was almost yelling at us toward the end of the consult. It got so bad that we had to ask Michael to leave our house. Before he left, he asked to use our restroom while the assistant collected the consult fee.
When they finally left, my husband and I looked at each other and said "did we really just pay $150 for someone to yell at us and use our bathroom?" I'm so put off by the whole experience. I would never recommend Michael to anyone!
