Valley Redwood

They're able to make custom dado cuts that I need for my fence design. Lumber prices have increased dramatically in the last couple years and I find valley redwood to be competitive but you cannot hand select your boards like at some of the large retailers.

Had a great experience here buying supplies and materials for my new fence. Family owned business that's been around for 40+ years. Prices were less expensive than the big corporate lumber stores like home depot and Lowe's. They were friendly and did the best they could to meet our fencing needs. Had everything we needed without having to order ahead too. And the sweet lady working there also gave me a chocolate.

They've been very helpful in giving advice to me, both over the phone and in person. I sometimes ask a lot of questions, and they don't get annoyed, they just answer them, patiently. This particular visit I spoke with Curt, and he also gave me a referral to a very good hardscape contractor after I asked for one. They have a big variety of different landscaping / hardscaping products, many of which can be seen by wandering around the lot. I took a few photos, but probably didn't do a great job in showing all they have to offer.

I came into the store to get assistance with building a pergola. They went out of their way to help me with what questions I needed to ask. Knowledge and experience you don't get from the big box stores. Nice people to work with. Bring your plans and see what is possible.

This place is AMAZING! Clean, organized and well stocked with a wide variety of product to choose from at great prices. My wife and I just purchased a house last year and it needs a lot of work. We decided we would start by putting in new landscaping in the front yard. Valley Redwood came highly recommended by a contractor friend of ours so we went there first.

We are REALLY happy that we did! These guys have been around a long time and they've got this handled perfectly. They had everything we needed for our project. They helped us figure out what we needed, how much we needed at very affordable prices. The service was amazing, from the people at the desk to the guys in the yard to the driver. We had everything delivered the next morning (we got enough product for free delivery!) and we were ready to go!

We could've had same day delivery, but we opted for next day. Our front yard looks beautiful. My wife wants a retaining wall in the front. Valley Redwood has that in stock as well. We are doing the backyard this year. We'll be getting more soil and different kinds of landscaping rock and we are putting up a 200 foot redwood fence and we will be getting everything, including all of our fencing, decorative rock, bark, flagstone, etc. from Valley Redwood. Thanks guys! You ROCK! Literally!

Paid for a half yard of bark at Valley, I got 4 wheelbarrow's worth of bark. Disgruntled, went to a competitor's on Jackson Highway and got half a yard and got 10 wheelbarrows of bark.

Customer service is awful. The sales person was barely answering our questions and didn't feel the need to help us. We ended up going somewhere else for gravel, lava rock and soil

Poked around the Moss Rock area for maybe 5 minutes and one of the employees asked me if I needed help, and then promptly helped me load about 1000 lbs. of rock. He was very helpful and courteous.

This place will not sell you there good lumber they will sell you all there crap lumber though. They couldn't open the good posts even though I only need 2. And then they tell me they all look the same. They split, chipped off, cracked, grinded on one side, sap all over. Literally lying to face. And then they tell me it is what it is. Horrible company and horrible customer service and on top of that will lie straight to your face. Never again will I come here and I will tell everyone to stay away.

I would have put a negative -1 for this review. My grandmothers fence blew down who has 3 dogs that loves dearly. They keep getting out and she's too old to keep chasing them. She's been so stressed out and it breaks my heart. I've done everything possible to help. Rebuilt whole fence minus pickets out of my pocket. 60'. I called this place talked to a guy said I needed 140 redwood fence boards.

Guy went to look then another guy picked saying if I don't but all from them, posts, other woods etc. they wouldn't sell to me! I've been looking for 2 weeks and got really excited talking to the first guy. Very disappointed in a company who only cares about making money rather then helping people in need. The manger and front desk guy are not the most nicest people. Make sure to count all of your materials you purchase with them, because if they mess up and give you less, they will flat out refuse to give you the missing supplies.

We couldn't be happier with the experience we had at Valley. We recently installed a new paver patio and Valley made it simple and easy. Curt was amazing! He helped us pick the pavers that worked best for us. He helped calculate the amounts of different materials we needed and made great suggestions on how to improve the results of our projects and make sure the patio came out the best it could.

After visiting a number of other home improvement stores and other showrooms the customer service and experience we received at valley made it our go-to spot for our next patio and retaining wall installation. My wife and I are homeowners in the Carmichael area. We are avid DIY, and budget shoppers. Home improvement sales can be full of pitfalls and uncertainty. But, Curt made it simple and easy. The driver who brought our materials, Alex, was also really helpful and the whole experience was, in my opinion, the best we could ask for. Thank you Valley Redwood!

I like a experience when the folks helping you clearly know their business and help to navigate you efficiently through purchasing what you need without a lot of fanfare or B.S. To top it off, delivery was right on time and was done in a neat, thoughtful and expedient manner. As far as I'm concerned this was a terrific first experience with this business.

Fence crew arrived to make a large purchase. Sales people had a poor attitude. Purchasing was a mess; my crew was informed they had to take what their business staff pulled for the job rather than allowing the crew to ensure straight usable boards were packed. The prices also seemed inflated. And no returns allowed. Damaged and warped pieces were pushed. Terrible.

My favorite place to get wood. They have a good selection and better prices for wood than surrounding lumber yards. We bought redwood 1x6x8 and 1x6x6 for a couple of ornamental horizontal fence projects. The staff there is a seasoned crew and they always have something funny to makes cracks about, which makes for an enjoyable transaction.

If I could give zero stars I would. My 90 year old dad ordered a piece of wood yesterday and the man at the counter was incredibly rude. I thought that maybe he was just having a bad day but then this morning was even worse. I went to pick up the piece and received the worst customer service ever. I have not ever been so blatantly disrespected by an entire staff of a business. If you do not want to cater to smaller orders then simply don't. We will buy somewhere else from now on. This business needs a class in common courtesy.

Went to valley redwood today to see 2x6 decking was surprised by the sale price and the quality of the lumber I made the purchase. great service great price decking looks great! They also have the fencing on sale, highly recommend shopping this lumber yard!

Bad attitude. called them to arrange a delivery of some building materials, told the person on the phone that I have photos to show what I needed. He sounded bored at best, and was very snotty when I asked him how to send the photos. He asked how much I needed, and I told him in feet. He said he needed cubic yards instead, and instead of trying to help me by busting out a calculator and figuring out what I needed, his tone was mocking and said I should call back when I figure it out.

Instead I decided to take my business elsewhere. I gave two stars since I never had the chance to see if the product was any good. I'm just basing this review on initial phone contact.

I came to purchase half a yard of sand.instead I received a 1/4 yard. I was told not to come here by a friend but came because it was close. Do your self a favor and avoid this place, just go to Hastie's. There customer service sucks also! That's why I didn't even bother to complain about the load. I'd put negative stars if possible.

Some of the worst lumber I have ever received in over 10 years of being a general contractor and a lifetime in construction. On a $7,000 order nearly half of it was infested with mold. And not just a little bit of surface mold, deep infested mold that cannot be removed. Reached out to them for help or exchange, no response. Wouldn't shop here again.

I only come here unless it's really necessary. both old guys behind the counter have no good customer service what's so ever. There loading is skimpy.when I come by for a yard of anything. it's more like a half yard. Just do your self a favor and go to hasties!

Purchased some mulch for delivery. The mulch they delivered was mostly fluffed up and was really 2/3 of the amount ordered. Spoke to the manager who claimed he wanted to resolve the problem but refused to send more, refund the order or take the mulch back. I told him I would dispute the charge. He alleged he sent someone to the house to measure but they did not approach the house or notify me of their presence.

Manager then refused to address the problem. Received a nasty voicemail an hour later telling me they were going to send some men to repossess the mulch. I never authorized the return for the mulch I had already paid for. The mulch was forcibly removed by them while I was in the back of the property. Manager never refunded my money. Opened a dispute with the credit card company.

Valley Redwood never called back to close out the matter. Very angry people with me on the phone, sent inferior product fluffed to reduce actual product delivered, not honorable in dispute resolution and sneaky took back mulch without authorization and made no effort to refund my money. A hostile business I urge people to avoid.

The wood we purchased was infested with termites. Valley Redwood did nothing to rectify the issue. Now we not only have infested wood but the risk of termites in our home.

I had an issue with another rock landcaping company as they had delayed my delivery by 4 days. I already had someone scheduled to shovel the rock for me so I canceled that order and went to Valley Redwood to purchase my rock. They really went above and beyond in accommodating me. Craig was excellent to work with, he had the rock loaded immediately and delivered to my house within less than 15 minutes! That kind of business integrity is worth the time to write a Yelp review and then some. Way to go Valley Redwood, I'll be spreading the good word!

I called about 20 mins before closing, spoke with a guy who didn't seem like he had much knowledge. He said he'd call me back so he could figure out how much material I needed. I was reluctant to wait for a call back and for good reason, he never called back. It is extremely rude and unprofessional to say something just to get off the phone.

I do realize everyone wants to go home at the end of the day, but 20 mins should've been plenty of time for a competent person to figure things out and call back. They don't seem like they have reliable or knowledgeable staff, I'd take your business elsewhere.

I needed two fences built for properties I own/manage. Valley Redwood was a referral so I gave them a call. I left a message for someone who handles property managers. He called me back the next day before 8am. He didn't seem to be too impressed that I didn't have all of the info he needed readily available but took the info and stated he would have his people go out and look then give me a call.

I never received a call back regarding the two fences. I'm guessing he didn't think I was real as I didn't have all of the fence info readily available. I'm not sure why he would call a PM before 8am and expect me to have the info on me. I never called them back to ask to follow up, there's other companies out there.
