A Cut Above is fantastic. We live in a single family home and were with the company for about 8 years. The yard is beautiful, the lawn spectacular. Neighbors moving to the neighborhood often asked who we used. My husband and I are very pleased. Services: Weed control, Yard work, Grass seeding, Lawn mowing & maintenance, Mulching

12/21 the third time he has edited his response to this review, This has been reported to Yelp, please note the behavior of this person it is extremely alerting: 12/21/2021 "My name is Chris and I'm one of the owners here at A Cut Above. I don't have my own personal login so I used my partner Dave's to post this response. This person placed an order with us and said in the order form that if we couldn't come out the next day she would find someone else to do the work.
I told her that we don't accept orders that demand next day service and she flew off the deep end. She has never used our services and you can see from her other reviews that she has a history of going postal on contractors. I read through some of the reviews and was sad to see how many other businesses she's harassed. We offer annual lawn maintenance programs and are very clear up front that we need up to 72 hours to get you on the schedule after signup. Wanted a regularly scheduled lawn maintenance service and went with this company based on their reviews. My only request was to be notified of the team's arrival time so I could clear my dog's from my yard. The company never provided a schedule and repeatedly accessed my yard--despite a sign and locks--to work despite my requests for a timeline. When I brought this up with the company, they cancelled my contract b/c of my "wild" expectations.
I'm fine with rescheduling due to weather and didn't really care what day they arrived, I just wanted to have a head's up when so I could make the yard available.that was too much and I was dropped as a client (I cancelled the landscape cleanup service as it was too bloody expensive for the quality of work, they subsequently cancelled my lawn maintenance service b/c I requested schedule updates when they didn't arrive without notice). Chris Korfonta was unable or didn't care to understand the issue and probably shouldn't be handling the customer service for this company, so if you don't have to deal with him maybe your experience will be better.
The actual service was so-so, probably not worth the price. I was expecting to have some sort of discussion/walkthrough of the work to be done but that never happened--the crews just showed up and started doing stuff without anyone talking to us about expectations or wants. We have a 1/3 acre property with garden beds and bushes/plants, which were cut back without discussion.
Pretty cavalier approach given the $400 we were supposed to pay each month. They left our patio strewn with debris. They were apparently running behind due to rain, which was the regularly used excuse. I'm sure that can create issues for a company that works outside but not sure why my level of service must suffer.reschedule to a time when you can do the work properly and keep your customers updated, it's not that hard especially if you value customer service like you say on your website.
So we started using a significantly cheaper competitor who does good work and sends a text and email when they're going to be here or if there's a change.simple, and what we wanted, but too much for A Cut Above. Update: I guess I'll be expecting a $550 refund then.? I paid $800 dollars to A Cut Above: $393 for the first month service (which I only received a "pruning" and mulch application, no lawn mowing) and $407 to make up for the "one time cleanup" that the service was claimed to be once we terminated our relationship.
To call it "mutual" is an overstatement: I didn't like their lack of communication and they said it wouldn't work because they can't do things like "schedule" and "text" or "email". I would have loved to have "lots of phone calls, emails, etc" as that may have cleared up some things. In addition, they've decided to make a lot of hyperbolic statements in their response: overgrown yard, detailed reports, "golf course look (?!)".none of that is true.
We never had any contact regarding expectations other than the basics of scheduling.just wanted to know when they would be there. Everything else they said is fabrications. They didn't communicate at all, they didn't provide any kind of information on what they were going to do, they didn't care what we wanted. Maybe they do good work if you don't care when they arrive and never wish to talk to them.
For $400 a month, I was expecting more. For the $800 they now have, I would at least expect more than petty lies and insecurity. For the record, we do now pay $250 a month for basic lawn service who provide text messages indicating their arrival time, so we're happy. A Cut Above has my $800 but is only concerned about gaslighting former "customers".you think they'd be happy but they just seem kinda pathetic now.
I'd be happy to provide before and after pictures, invoices, and the record of communications with A Cut Above/Chris Korfonta for anyone who is curious about working with them.

I had to check all the boxes for this company. They take care of our lawn and gardens all year long (fall, summer & spring). Every bit of work is professional, well done, polite & trusted workers too. The completion of their work is always beautiful. Very responsive when I contact them, customer service is very important to this company. Contact them today, you won't be sorry!

A Cut Above stands by its name. The company has done hardscape and landscaping at our house and we have been extremely pleased with the outcome. The crews are friendly and work efficiently and neatly. The team is very helpful and will walk you through a project. We have also contracted A Cut Above to provide lawn care/fertilizer services, and have been pleasantly surprised with their service.
They go above an beyond to ensure that your lawn is properly prepped for aerating/fertilization. We will not go back to a large corporation for lawn care again. The larger companies don't take the same care in their work product like Dave and his teams do. Thank you A Cut Above.

I wanted to take a moment to recognize David and the team. From the very beginning David set himself apart with how clear he was when he came to do our estimate. We didn't have to do anything they literally walked us through the entire process. Their communication was very clear and the team is very responsive compared to other landscaping companies in the area.
A cut above stood out to us as we had 3 companies give us an estimate on our landscaping project and we couldn't be happier with David and the team we ended up doing a project and signed up for their annual mowing. You'll notice that this company will keep you updated every step of the way and we loved it. Aside from the fantastic service and a job well done, the pricing was also more reasonable than others.
If you are looking around and you read this review just request an estimate and you'll see what I mean when David shows up to your house with his iPad and you will be blown away once you get his email and see the attention to details.

We had A Cut Above redo our entire landscape this Spring. Everything was overgrown and a complete mess, so we removed all the trees and shrubs and had Dave and team come in and replant all new shrubs, trees and ground cover. They also installed some stacked stone walls to define the beds. They did a fantastic job and now that the grass has had time to fill in, the yard is looking great.
We also use A Cut Above for our mowing and maintenance services and they do an awesome job of keeping the entire yard looking great. Definitely recommend them. They are great to work with and always strive to accommodate my various requests.

Ender and his crew did an amazing job! When Ender arrived we discussed all the work that was needed. He walked through all the areas with me and discussed what he would do to remedy all the issues we had. They did such a fabulous job and now I can't wait to entertain more now that our yard is in perfect condition thanks to Ender and his crew! They were extremely professional and nice!

I had used them for several years for a very small yard but they have terminated the contract this month. Their website and portal is easy to use and I like the price transparency. Issues- 2 years in a row they have "weeded" out all my zinnia seedlings, this spring they majorly trimmed back my Ivy (pics) to mulch a bed. They mow WAY to short, I mean they came this week and most of my yard is cut with a weed wacker so they pretty much guarantees the lawn will die in the heat of summer.
They have cut blooming hydrangeas back and the crews really don't know what is appropriate to prune and when. In fairness to the company they are communicative when I bring up issues- I am just getting tired of having issues routinely.

I contacted A Cut Above in the fall of 2020 to discuss landscaping work. Dave Castleman, the CEO, came out and walked through the yard with us and asked relevant questions in order to design a plan that met our needs. While waiting for spring, I used the handy calculators on their website to "shop" for other services and signed up for yard cleanup, fertilization, and lawn services.
Now that spring has arrived, the crew completed the landscape install and it looks great. I am looking forward to a summer where I can focus on flowers instead of a never ending battle with weeds. The yard will continue to look better as plants grow and the crews make their routine visits. I love that the company uses technology to send out notices of upcoming visits, and the client portal lets me manage my account.

I couldn't be happier with A Cut Above lawn service. The crew does a great job each time. I love the interactive website, it's so easy. Ashley is always quick to respond to emails. They also email out the schedule at least a week in advance which has been handy in coordinating some landscaping over the summer. Definitely recommend!

A Cut Above was very responsive. I was in a bind, the lawnmower broke, we were heading out of town, it was spring, the grass was out of control! I called them and asked for their help with 2 cuts to buy me time to get home and get our mower fixed and they did so with no issues. The form was online, the communication was great!

We contacted A Cut Above in February as our lawn was in extremely poor shape. We had numerous bare patches, mossy areas, and plenty of crab grass. Having tried a couple of different services over the years, we could never find a company we were satisfied with. So far, we're really happy with A Cut Above. While we're going to continue to need remedial work going forward, our lawn looks the best it has since about 2013. Thanks to the team that's been taking care of us!

I used this company for their yard clean-up service because I am NOT a gardener. They did an amazing job of weeding the overgrown garden beds, including a large area that we haven't mustered the courage to touch since we bought the house two years ago. The crew even cleaned up weeds growing through the spaces between pavers on the patio. They trimmed back a couple of butterfly bushes threatening to take over the walkway along the side of the house.
They also dragged away all of the fallen branches from recent storms. I am so pleased with the result and the yard looks like it did when I first saw our house. The price was fair for the amount of labor required, communication with the company was exceptional, and the crew was prompt and professional. I heartily recommend this company.

They were hired by a neighbor to collect leaves. They TRIED to park their extremely large truck with snowplow and leaf sucker near the neighbors yard. They could not drive the equipment close to the neighbors house to do the work properly so they just drove into my yard and damaged landscaping. Left without a word. Totally irresponsible and unprofessional. DO NOT HIRE THIS BUSINESS.

I am using this company for leaf removal service because A) I have a baby this year and B) I just had surgery on my back. Their prices are very reasonable, and they were able to come out within a matter of days. When the team arrived, they were fast and professional, and there is not one leaf left to been seen anywhere in my yard! I'm sure all my neighbors who raked for hours to still have some debris hanging around their yard are going to be pretty jealous.
This was so inexpensive and easy that I'm tempted to just keep doing it every year moving forward. Is that lazy? Meh. It saves me a weekend! P.S. They do two appearances, once in November and once in Decemeber, as the leaves tend to come in two waves. They charge an hourly rate, so you only pay as much as it takes to get the job done.

Oh, this is a real review. It seems to me that the owners of this company are quite happy to treat people badly, then act like it never happened. They may have a 4.9/5 star review, but if you look at the reviews I've posted about other companies in the Loudoun County area, I clearly praise companies that deserve it. A Cut Above doesn't deserve praise.
Not only did I get poor service to begin with, they're now accusing me of posting a fake review. Given the way they're behaving, I'd rather buy goats to take care of my landscaping. *UPDATE* According to Yelp guidelines. Your trust is our top concern, so businesses can't pay to alter or remove their reviews. This business owner is claiming that he would have to pay to have this review removed. Hmm.
This business is becoming shadier and shadier. BTW, I wasn't a customer because I never hired you. You never even bothered to reply to my email other than a cut and paste comment. You then proceeded to call me and swear at me. You're company lacks professionalism.

Tried to call and get a quote. They didn't answer, but sent me a text message asking for my information. I asked if they could send someone out to see our new house to give us an estimate on landscaping. I was rejected via text. When I asked why the person was rude and said that is not how they do things. What? You don't want my business because I would like to deal with an actual person?
I AM SO CONFUSED. I guess I will take my business elsewhere. SMH. Update: I never refused to give my address. I was snuffed when I asked for availability. No one was even willing to talk to me on the phone. Why would I send someone my address via text message without even knowing if anyone is willing to help us in the time frame we need? Update: Dude, this guy is crazy.
He has emailed me multiple times trying to argue with me about this. He has responded to this review at least four times. Every time he is trying to discredit my review and yelp in general. LET IT GO MAN. I had a bad experience with you. That ACTUALLY HAPPENED. How is this a fake review? The only thing fake here is YOU. Update: In response to Dave updating his response for the umpteenth time, of course your database says I was never a customer. READ MY REVIEW. I DID NOT HIRE YOU BECAUSE YOU WERE UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE.

A Cut Above provides exceptional landscaping service. We switched to them a couple of years ago and the difference in service is remarkable; we saved over $200/month, with even more services. They're efficient and professional. They keep me informed of the schedule, what services they'll be performing and when I may expect them. Then they show up on time and do a great job. Our neighbors always comment on how beautiful our yard looks. These guys deserve all the credit! I recommend them highly.
