The family-owned firm began in 1950 when the late Charles ("Tract") McCollum, armed with a forestry degree from Michigan State University, started the company in downtown Monroe, Mr. McCollum specialized in insect and disease control, tree trimming, and removal. He was the first in the Monroe area to diagnose Dutch Elm disease.
Trimming can serve two purposes, hazard reduction and maintenance. Hazard reduction can get rid of branches that might compromise the structural integrity of the tree; maintenance can make your tree more aesthetically pleasing. We offer both services, in order to keep your trees healthy and attractive.
Before they get too busy, contact your irrigation company to make sure your system is in good working condition. Make sure your shrubs and trees are properly mulched -approximately 3- in order to maintain soil moisture, keep weeds down, and add to the attractiveness of your yard. Cut back any parts of the plant that were left up for winter interest, such as flower stalks and seed heads of the ornamental grasses. As your perennials begin to emerge, get their support system in place while you still can!

Customer of Floral City Tree for over 10 YEARS. Paid in January for our usual spraying of our pine trees for needle cast disease. These trees are to be sprayed in our area twice a year: May 1st and June 1st. They have not been here AT ALL. We have called 3 times and gotten various excuses; such as: "They'll be out in a few days" - "We start next week" - "It's been too cold/rainy" [which is exactly what creates needle cast disease - cold, rainy springs]. Nothing.
We have confirmed we are on their list and did pay in January. Update: 06/06/22 - Floral City Tree made a special trip to spray the trees! We also discovered the reason this was delayed; it would have helped to have that information on the previous times we called. I am altering this review to reflect FAVORABLY on a company that we have used for years and will continue to use.

The receptionist is amazing. I'm sure she fields many complaints. The receptionist 5 stars. That's were it ends. Yes I'm know there's rain but cutting down 2 trees & on a sunny day not coming back to finish, not cool. Leaving tree limbs & logs in my neighbors driveway, not cool. My neighbor is suppose to deal with that mess from Wednesday to? today is Friday, no weekend work? Hmmmm.
We went out bought a chainsaw & finished their job. They were also to cut down a 3rd tree but told them to forget about which I'm sure they don't care anyway. Took a month to get the quote, then it took 2 months for them to come & partly do the work order. Not waiting another 2 months for completion. My friend encouraged me to leave a review so I did.

Great company, great pricing! Wow did they make it look easy. Steve was actually at my neighbors house when I approached him asking about removing a tree, he wrote me up a quote (very cheap btw) and when I called they were out within the next week! Fabulous company, everyone was very nice & helpful to my questions. Definitely recommended!

This was the first time that my husband and I used Floral City's tree service. The guys did a great job! The estimate for the work to be done was delivered in a timely matter. Estimated time for work to be done was accurate. And the job that was done on my trees and bushes met our expectations. Thank you - good job!

We are Floral City Tree Service. For the record-we never ever did any service of any kind for the three people that left negative reviews. We have no idea who they are. We have been in business for 66 years. We have done something right all these years to be thriving in our community that many years. We do provide free written estimates. They came out quickly after being called, maybe because they are so overpriced that they didn't want to risk losing a sucker. The men were not just unfriendly, they were borderline rude. The $265.00 bill was for trimming one small, rather low limb from a very accessible tree and clean-up/ haul away of the limb. The limb is still in my front yard a day later.
I would NOT recommend this company to anyone. As a matter of fact when I mentioned it to anyone they all either laughed or gasped and asked me if I had hit the lottery or something because they are so overpriced.
