Zen Associates

We hired Zen after meeting with them to discuss our landscaping plans. They seemed to understand our expectations and excited for our business. Once we signed the contract and gave a deposit, our emails and voicemails were unreturned and we received no attention. We were extremely disappointed once we received the initial drawings, it was clear no thought or creativity was put into them. basically received back a mirror image of the architect's rendering.

We voiced our frustration and was asked to give them another chance. Several weeks went by again with no communication or follow up. We finally felt we had no choice but to move on. We were told the majority of our deposit was already spent even though we had yet to receive a revised drawling as promised. This company is extremely unprofessional, full of empty promises and terrible service.

* Update 3 years after: I brought my review down to 1 star. Half of the plants that Zen recommended and planted are not growing anymore or not thriving, mind you they installed the drip irrigation system around the plantings. The bluestone patio they convinced us to partially install in the winter because the ground wasn't frozen yet is now uneven and stones are moving.

I now have to redo that area so I reached out to Offshoots. What a difference! I got an actual design plan made by an actual landscaping architect using our property plans instead of the basic drawing on a piece of paper that Zen Associates provided me with ( something that my child could draw). Come to find out Zen Associates had planted past our property lines as well. Offshoots looked at our soil and explained why the plants chosen by Zen would never thrive in this area. Offshoots is planning to start this project next year, I'll be posting Before (Zen) and After (Offshoots) pics. 3 years ago: Zen Associates did a great job Overall with our project and we loved the work from the carpentry and outdoor lighting companies they contracted. Jon was very nice and worked with me when I had them do more work for us. However, they sadly get a 3-star because it's been 4 months and we are still waiting for them to put the electrical box they took down back on the wall and for them to repair the lawn.

We paid $1500 for lawn protection and repair, my husband got tired of waiting and seeded the area himself. We have also used them for their maintenance services because they guarantee the plants for a year. Thank God we did it because a bunch of the plants they planted have died, which I'm not surprised because the masonry crew planted them after they told me that it's not really their expertise and that the gardening crew was too busy As for the maintenance services, I had to call them to see if they were still coming for the summer cleanup.

They did a great job but left their tools and garbage in my front lawn for 3 days. I had to call to remind them that they needed to pick it up. Quite disappointed with the service, you would think you would get great service with the amount they charge but you can see that Zen Associates is just overwhelmed. Let's see what happens for Fall and Winter cleanup.

We've worked with ZEN Associates on numerous projects across New England. Their vision and ability to expand upon customer's desires has made it possible for us to easily build unique and beautiful pools for their customers. Their staff has high end design skills with prompt attention to detail and honesty.

They are talented, but they charge A LOT for design. I hired them for design services, and they delivered really nice designs, though they were very expensive. But their proposed cost for implementing the designs was over $300k. I wasn't building a new house; I wasn't even building a shed! The house I grew up in cost 1/2 this much. Not sure its worth getting nice designs that are cost-prohibitive to implement. Be wary.

Zen associates did a fantastic job of my patio. We were having serious problems with water draining down the hill in our backyard to our house. We had installed an interior French drain but were still having issues with walls bowing and cracking in our basement. I wanted a solution that would work but also be beautiful. Zen delivered wonderfully on both fronts.

My husband is happy because the mechanical issues are fixed(regrading and underground drains) and I am happy because it is so beautiful. It was not cheap, but believe me, it was worth it. My kitchen faces this exterior patio, and every time I look out my window, I am struck by how beautiful it is. It is money well spent if it brings me joy every day of my life. I am attaching a picture of a small part of the patio. It does not do it justice, but it gives you an idea of how it looks.

These guy's are the worst landscapers ever, workers are rude and hit on my daughter, charged me and never finished the job.
